Dealing with Covid in Peru

Lima 1.jpg

I want to communicate that Andres Nuñez one of our instructors diagnosed covid is feeling better now, thanks God. We are continuing our activities by holding online classes and it seems that it will be like that the whole year and maybe part of 2022 because many more covid cases are broken out.

Words of Juan after teaching II Corinthians:

The II Corinthians class has been another great opportunity to share and go deep in the word of God with our students, there were 5 students during this class that have satisfactorily completed the course. One of our students had health problems related to the lungs and for that reason she was not able to have the course, I am speaking of Margot Rodriguez, one of our best students, we trust God her health improve for our next course.

The class has been developed in a homiletic and expository way, intended for our students to assimilate in the best way possible the study material. One quiz every week and a series of expositions related to their investigation themes at the end of the course.

We thank your prayers and your continuous support to the ministry and the institute here in our country

Juan Abanto

Codirector - Maestro

We are praying for the work you are doing and the work all the instructors around the globe during this difficult scene.

Prayers for Peru

Lima 1.jpg

Greetings in Christ our Lord to you my dear brothers from your fellow brothers from Lima, Perú.

The situation in Lima is difficult due to the virus, many brothers and sisters in Christ have passed away, some others got the virus but they recovered as it is the case with one of our students and some others got the virus recently as it is the case of one of our instructors. On December 2020, churches were allowed gather together but this last week our president announced another quarantine due to the increase in coronavirus cases. Quarantine started on January 31 till February 14 but we still have a state of emergency the whole month of February.

Although this situation has restricted many activities we are continuing with our virtual mode of instruction. We are having webinars every month in order to get the interest of possible prospects to study at the school.

We ask your prayers for our students and instructors for the brothers and sisters in Peru now that we are facing another quarantine. We are praying for you all as well.

I adjust a picture of me teaching “Life of Christ III” and I can say that one of the good things about teaching is receiving words of gratitude from the students for sharing these classes.

Utilizing technology in Peru

Our warmest regards,

As the singer Juan Manuel Moretti says "Things are running their course" dear brothers, things have gotten very difficult in recent months, but we keep moving forward, and that is the path that the Lord Jesus has put us ahead to walk. , and the best of all is that in the middle of whatever comes our way, there he is with us, by our side, encouraging us, strengthening us, extending his hands to hold us when we feel faint and that we can no longer advance more. The lord is good!

One more month has gone, approaching the end of this year 2020, leaving us many troubles, and disappointments, but also many gratifying moments, which continue to encourage us and give us reasons to continue.

As planned, BVBI PERU continues with its activities and events, we have successfully concluded the Church History course, which has been presented by Abraham Alata, our co-director and teacher. Here are a few words from Abraham Alata regarding his Church History class:

"In the course I could see the interest and also the amazement of many to understand what the church was like in its early years and how the changes arose as time passed that contributed to the formation of many doctrines that we contemplate in churches today and how the effort was made to go back to the origins. It was a great experience to be able to share knowledge with the students about the course of Church History".

We have had 3 new students in the course and although their interest has only been for this course, as free students, we are convinced that there are many possibilities that they will decide to enroll in our curricular program. If not, we believe that the experience you have had in this course will result in very good recommendations on your part, to other brothers who are looking for a biblical training center.

We started our webinars through which we try to awaken the interest of people in the classes and the program that the institute offers, as a result of our first webinar we have new students registered in our program, I mean Israel Avendaño, Jerson Chura , Humberto Gonzales, Bartolomé Trujillo, Gerardo Muñoz.

We are ready to start a new course, the speaker this November will be Yens Nima, we will present the course "Paul's letter to the Galatians."

Thank you for taking the time to read these notes on things here at BVBI PERU and stay safe and secure.

Maximizing the use of technology in Peru

Greetings dear brothers,
A fraternal greeting to you from Lima - Peru,
This has been a very busy month despite the fact that we have many limitations to do what we are passionate about, yet the ministry continues as well as the programs related to the institute.

We are transmitting our programs 8 times a week in a virtual way (I mean virtual studies or sermons as part of our congregational work, in which we have one of our students involved with a lot of commitment, I mean Alejandro Berrio). We have done some benevolence activities as well, thanks to the help of generous brothers who are kind enough to share their material blessings with us.

The institute continues to offer its classes virtually and the last course has been Marriage and Family. Brother Yens Nima was the instructor for this course. For his report, our students have passed the course with satisfactory grades.

Thinking about implementing new things taking advantage of the circumstances and opportunities, we have considered it a good idea to implement a webinar prior to each course to continue awakening interest in the courses and the institute's class program among our brothers. Our first webinar is scheduled for October 24 prior to the Galatians course in November, which will be taught again by Brother Yens Nima.

I share a few brief thoughts from Yens and the course he has taught:

"First of all, I thank God and at the same time the brothers who gave me the opportunity to teach this subject to the students of the Bear Valley Bible Institute, our Brother Juan Abanto and Abraham Alata. It is an honor to serve the cause of God through this course that we have been teaching Marriage and Family. Well, the study included the biblical and theological bases of the family but with special emphasis on the treatment of the ministerial family.... This course provided, from the biblical and theological bases, some valuable tools for the strengthening of our marital and family relationship as ministers. This will enable us to be equipped and sensitized to help other families who will seek our advice and guidance in times of pain and difficulty. In addition, we will have a good foundation to train those who are not yet married, to prevent some of the unfortunate situations that we have had to face due to our lack of knowledge and experience" Yens Nima.

The course scheduled for this month of October is Church History and will be presented by Abraham Alata, classes begin on October 5.

Online classes continue in Lima, Peru

It is a pleasure for us to greet you dear brothers,

Things continue to get more difficult in our country in relation to the pandemic, while in other countries things are somehow being brought under control, in our country things are getting worse, the latest international report has put our country in the first place in the world with the highest mortality rate with 28,124 victims, while another 10,000 are being investigated.

The scenario we are in is unfortunate, however, we remain confident in the Lord and in the power of his strength and that everything will improve. Almost a month ago one of our students suffered the death of his mother due to COVID, I mean Moisés Guevara, it was a hard time for him, for the family and for the church, God have her in his glory.

Since our last report we have continued with our study program, although due to circumstances we continue to do so virtually. Our last two courses have been Leadership and Job (the latter is still being taught). Leadership was presented by me (Juan Abanto), the course on the Book of Job (A.T. IIIA) is being taught by brother Andrés Núñez. It is still a great challenge for us to present these courses in the midst of all these difficulties and limitations that we have, but both teachers and students are always trying to do our best to continue our program.

On the other hand, we started a virtual program focused on youth, in this program we are involving different young ministers to expose the word of God. In recent months, both I and Abraham Alata have been involved in many opportunities to share the word of God, it is not a program exclusively sponsored by the Institute, but thank God we had the vision to implement it with the help of many other ministers and it is working be a great help to the youth of the church of Christ in the country. One of the objectives is to take advantage of the program to awaken interest among the young people in the institute and in the training program that we offer, we hope in God many awaken their interest in the institute through this.

Thank you for always being aware of the extension here in our country and for the support that is constantly provided to continue with the program. Please keep us in your prayers!

Being creative in Lima

Greetings brothers,
Hoping in God that all of you are well with his blessing. We know that many of our brothers have been physically affected by Covid-19, but that thank God they are already recovered or in the process, some of our brothers have also gone through this, but they are already better.

As previously mentioned, our activities as an institution have continued, albeit virtually, in the month of May we have taught the course "Planting Churches", we have had five students connected during this course in a virtual way. But everyone continues to be a challenge especially due to the limitations both with the devices and their respective internet or data services, even so, everyone has made and continues to make a great effort to stay active in the classes and also when fulfilling their assignments.

During this month of June the course that is being taught is I, II Pedro and Judas. Responsible for the presentation of the course is our brother Abraham Alata, according to his reports five students are connecting in the course as well.

For now, the only thing we are dedicated to is teaching, most are not carrying out any activity related to the ministry as far as we know, in addition to being participants of their ecclesiastical meetings in their respective congregations, in fact, there are only some churches that They have implemented virtual services, and it is a small percentage of siblings who have access or knowledge of technology, limiting them to having family gatherings at home.

This is the case, for example, of José Medina, one of our students, who is having family reunions during this quarantine period. On the other hand, we have Alejandro Berrio, another one of our students, in the church where Abraham and I preach and we have him active presenting a series of topics in a virtual program that we have prepared for him, in which he operates with great comfort.

All this situation is demanding of us, a lot of creativity to continue trying to reach many with the gospel and stimulate them to their spiritual growth. At the moment the quarantine continues, although gradually some things are beginning to be reactivated, although taking all possible security measures. In the case of churches it is not yet legal to open the doors, on Sundays mass gatherings are generally prohibited, which includes churches or educational centers. We hope to have some favorable reports at the end of the month, however we are all aware that the problem with the virus is still latent in the streets. We trust God that this will happen, and that things will gradually get better!

Virtual classes in Peru

A virtual but fraternal hug from Lima - Peru,

We remain immersed like everyone, in the midst of this quarantine scenario.

We are very sorry for everything or that is happening, but we accompany all of you in our prayers. The quarantine in our country has practically been extended until the end of May, but security measures will surely continue to prevent infections.

As an institution, the institute has had to adapt and we are presenting the courses in a virtual way (we finished I Corinthians, this course was covered by me in April) and we have started the second virtual course "Planting churches".

The first virtual course I Corinthians was presented to the students using Facebook Live from 5 - 8 in the morning. There have been advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages are:

1) The broadcasts have ensured us a production of material for future students who are interested in studying at a distance.

2) The possibility for students to replay the recordings to perfect their assimilation of the material.

3) More advantage to nourish our website with material and in a more organized way.

Among the disadvantages are:

1) Very limited interaction with students.

2) The time was not the most appropriate, most have expressed this point of view.

3) The limitations of both technological knowledge and devices have also been a problem.

Adapting to virtual mode is something that is costing some because they are not so up-to-date with the use of technology, deficiencies in their network service or lack of a pc or laptop. But they are still trying their best to assimilate the material.

With these things in mind and after having discussed them, aware of the possibility that the quarantine would continue, we have launched our next course "planting churches" but we will use a platform for virtual classes "Google Meet" through which we can do of this course much more interactive and assimilable for students. (I attach a screenshot of our virtual classroom).
We have six students enrolled in this period in which the virtual modality has been implemented (Alejandro Berrio, Alejandro Manrique, José Medina, Moises Guevara, Margot Rodriguez and Jaime Ancori).

As part of the activities planned in our annual calendar, we have had to adapt to the scenario we are in. Our annual conference scheduled for April 9-10 was presented virtually, many brothers an sisters were able to connect to broadcasts on those days. Five lessons were presented, under the theme “Complete in Christ”. 1) Full salvation, 2) Full communion, 3) Full instruction, 4) Full perfection, 5) Full communion. (I attach a screenshot of the transmissions made during this conference and to their respective participants).

We would like to ask for your prayers for one of our teachers ANDRES NUÑEZ, he is affected by Covid-19, right now he is in quarantine, two of his close relatives have already passed away, we pray to God that he can recover as soon as possible. We ask your prayers for this faithful servant of the Lord and committed teacher in BVBI - PERU.

Grateful for your constant support and endorsement with this extension.

God be with you, dear brothers.

Making adjustments in Peru

Dear brothers,

This is an update of information about the BVBI PERU. It has been and continues to be a very challenging time, the problem with the Covid-19, has required us to make some changes to ensure that we can continue with our work and the plans that we have outlined for these months, but always grateful to God for keeping us firm and constant and thank you who are there for us too, supporting our work.

In the country we are in a "state of emergency" and will continue to do so according to the presidential announcements, until April 13, although possibly this will last a little longer. Meanwhile, depending on our possibilities, we will continue to teach the courses.

In the month of March, the course “Prison Epistles” was presented to the students with Yens Nima as instructor, the first two Saturdays were face-to-face and the last two were virtual. (In the images that I attach this Yens dictating his class accompanied by two students and broadcasting live to the other students who are far away). Anyway, the course was concluded. And this is what we will do while this state of emergency lasts.

In this month of April we have the I DE CORINTIOS course. I (Juan Abanto) will take care of this class and it will be done virtually through our Facebook page. In addition, we had our second Bible conference scheduled for April 9 and 10, this will also be broadcast virtually.

We hope in God that this difficult time that we are having to live in the whole world, may happen soon, if that is God's will, but whatever happens, we will continue to do our best to serve the Lord in his kingdom.
Thank you for taking the time to read these notes.

A good report from Lima

Dear Brothers,

It is good for me to get in touch with you, we hope in God that this new year that we have started a couple of months ago is one in which we can better serve our God and that his will be done through us in the different ministries in which we are serving.
The commitment to the Institute by both students and teachers has remained intact so far. And always willing to move forward with this project, as in all work for the Lord, challenges and trials are always presented, with which we have to struggle to ensure that Satan does not take advantage and make us faint, trusting in the Lord and in the power of his forces, we move on.
December 2019 we finished it with the DEITY course, Brother Andres Nuñez was responsible for presenting this matter. These are the final comments he shared about his experience with the students:

“Again it was a beautiful experience in this course, they learned and also assimilated the course and found it interesting, above all, about the Deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Give them good study material so they have a lot of information about the course. For the rest everything was pleasant companionship and the degree of respect and mutual appreciation between them. Thank you, see you soon! ” (Andres Nuñez)

The year 2019 is closed with a lunch of fellowship with students and teachers, a time of fellowship and camaraderie to share our experiences in the institute both as teachers and students. It was a good quality time that we spent together.

So far in 2020 we have had two courses: The life of Christ II presented by Brother Abraham Alata in the month of January, and Old Testament II presented by this server in this month of February, as in every opportunity we have to teach It has been a very pleasant, challenging as well as helpful experience. In this month of February a new student has been added (Cristiano Carrión Licton) is the man on my right side in the bottom corner of the last photo. On the other hand, Brother Moisés Guevara has started a new job which prevents him from participating in the classes for the moment and has decided to leave the program temporarily until he can better organize his schedules in his workplace.

This weekend we have scheduled an evangelistic activity where I and Abraham are working full time (this since January 2020), we have invited students to support the work in our congregation as part of our new calendar of activities 2020. In the next report we will let you know the results of this evangelistic activity. We are very excited for this new beginning of the year and for all that the Lord has prepared for us in the ministry in this place.

We thank you for all the support, both physical and spiritual and for your time to read this report, a fraternal hug dear brothers.

Preachers camp in Peru

Dear Brothers,
Hoping that each of you is well, both in your personal, family and ministerial lives, after a little time I write these lines to update the progress of BVBI PERU.

The students in the institute are doing a great effort and a good job to make sure that the contents presented by the teachers are assimilated, the last subject was taught by Abraham Alata (Homiletica 2), this month our brother Andres Nuñez is speaking the Oratory course.

Thanks to the support of Abraham Alata, Andres Nuñez, Jens Nima and Alejandro Manrique, and other Church leaders here in Lima, we organized our first CPP (Camp for Preachers), in which 18 leaders from different congregations were involved. July 28-29, we developed a series of activities with the purpose of further strengthening the bonds of friendship and fraternity, in addition to building each other, the plan is to have a CPP promoted by the institute every year, we hope to have sat a good president to Future events

Following our calendar of activities, the students supported an evangelistic activity in the Church of Christ in Pachacamac on August 3-4, an activity that left many contacts and prospects for conversion, of which the church is already taking charge. The church of Pachacamac decided to support two of the students financially to count on their help in the evangelistic task, this will be done until the end of the year, the two students are Alejandro Berrio and Moises Guevara.

Making a difference in Lima

Dear brothers in Christ,

The Bible Institute continues, we started our second semester with a lot of encouragement, both students and teachers have done and are doing a great job. We concluded the previous semester with the Homiletics 1 course with Abraham Alata and we began this semester with the course of Hermeneutics 1 with me as a teacher. Students do their best to take advantage of this instructional time.

As part of our calendar of activities we had two days of Bible conference in the month of April (18-19), Christians from different congregations were invited to participate in this event, we received the visit of approximately 60 people each day, the exhibitors were the teachers of the institute two per day, the conference was based on the book of Philippians ("Prisoners of Joy"). This was also a very good time of fellowship and instruction for the brotherhood. If God allows it, we are setting precedents for future events, because we want to do it every year.

The students, as part of their training, developed an evangelistic activity together with some members of the Church of Christ in America (where the Institute currently operates), on May 1st this activity was developed.

We greatly appreciate the time taken to read this report and to support the activities both spiritually and materially, our Lord keep and bless you.

Your brothers,

Juan and Abraham

Upcoming plans in Lima, Peru

A FRATERNAL HUG,

The BVBI - Peru concluded the course "Personal Evangelism" with Brother Andres Nuñes, and at the same time let us know that we will begin this Saturday the "Homiletics 1" course with Abraham Alata. With this course we would be closing our first semester.

EVANGELISTIC ACTIVITY

On March 2, the students of the institute had the opportunity to participate in an evangelistic activity in the Church of Christ the Crown - Pachacamac, we had a very profitable day visiting the community, encouraging them to study the bible and visit the church. Some 250 houses were visited, we had 10 studies with 18 people and 3 contacts were won interested in continuing to study the bible.

The students experienced evangelism as a group for the first time and as a prelude to the "personal evangelism" course. The church greatly appreciates the support received.

PREPARATIONS FOR THE APRIL 2019 CONFERENCE

Our first Biblical Conference scheduled for April 18 - 19 is near and we have everything almost ready: teachers, literature, advertising and evangelistic brochures, t-shirts and banners. The conference is about the book of Philippians "prisoners of joy", we want to set a precedent for future events of this nature and take the opportunity to continue publicizing the institute among the brotherhood. We ask for your prayers for this event to be a success for the glory of God.

Brotherly,

Juan and Abraham

A new school in Lima, Peru!

Dear brothers,

By means of this I am writing to you to extend my greetings and to report the progress of the institute here in Peru.

Last Saturday we finished the redemption plan with Yens Nima, with 10 students. There were 2 absent, due to health problems, Eyton and Lizandra, they had a baby, but there were complications which caused her to return to the hospital, two weeks ago they have already returned home, but Lizandra is still recovering. I think they are planning to start the next course. Both are very good students.

Regarding the other students, they are doing a good job with the lessons, although for several the academic level is finding it a little complicated, both to assimilate the lessons and to fulfill their tasks and exams. But we are sure that they will do much better.

As co-directors and teachers, we are seeing the best way to ensure that they are instructed and grow, but that they also approve the courses. Here I add the averages of the first 3 courses dictated by (A.T 1 - Juan Abanto, How the Bible came to us - Abraham, Evidences - Alejandro).

On the other hand, as part of our 2019 calendar of activities we will have an evangelistic activity in the area of the church where I am preaching, we will do it this Saturday, March 2. Since March and other months have 5 Saturdays, we decided to use them to take the group to do evangelistic work in different areas. I attach the 2019 calendar of activities. In our plan of activities we have included:

1.       Biblical Conference. We will have one in the month of April presented by the teachers of the institute and another one in November as invited by the IDC America.

2.       Evangelistic activity. We will have them in March, May, August and October.

3.       Recordings. We want to involve students and teachers to make audio and video recordings of different biblical themes for the benefit of our local congregations.

4.       Recreation. Both students and teacher will have one day in the year for recreational activities.

5.       Camp for Preachers (CPP). It will be a night and a day of retreat in which different preachers will be invited to spend time for instruction, feedback and fellowship.

6.       An evangelistic mission. The students and teachers will have a missionary activity next year, for which we are already preparing ourselves, mentally, physically and economically speaking (PERSONAL BUDGETS).

We appreciate the spiritual and financial support we receive from you, thanks to all the people involved in this beautiful project. May God continue to bless you!

We'll keep in touch! A hug from a distance!
