Nine souls baptized in Cambodia

IBISR’s Report for March 2024

We are sending our greetings to you all brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ! We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom. This is another good time to report what happened at IBISR’s school in SiemReap Cambodia during March 2024. We want to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

 IBISR’s Academy :

Currently Darat and I are continuing to train our students in the subjects of  “A preacher and his work" and "family and marriage".  Our students are happy and satisfied with their studies in those subjects.

Special Opportunity:

IBISR’s school brings our students together to teach and preach God’s word to people living in the new area called (Run Ta Aek). We are so enjoy that God allowed us and preach His word there.

We share with the love that God has given and taught us to love others as ourselves (Mattew.22:38), So we showed our love by sharing food, rice, and ingredients with 12 families. The most important thing is to share the gospel with those families.

Adding to the Family!

It was with much happiness that we saw 9 souls put on Christ in baptism. It is always such a joy to see souls added to our family. Most of them are from Leang Dai and Sombuo villages. Please pray for these new babies in Christ so that they may grow in the image of His son Jesus Christ.

 Seminar:

We attended a joint seminar in Phnom Penh city. Our students and staff enjoy studying the topic of Commitment, which was taught by Brother Sokhom Hun. Over 200 people attended that seminar. It is good to strengthen our faith and to know more about God’s will.

Prayers:

Without your prayers and care, we can’t do these things. Continue praying for our new plan to go to the new area and share God’s word with the lost souls. We take our students with us to do that work. Please pray for us in Cambodia to do that work. May our God open their heart to receive God.

Also, Please pray for new babies in Christ so that they may grow in the image of His son Jesus Christ.

Continued growth in Cambodia

We send our greetings to you all brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ! We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom. This is another good time to report what is happening at IBISR’s school in Siem Reap Cambodia during January 2024. We want to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

IBISR Institute:

We are continuing to train our students in the books of 1,2,3 John as well as the denomination doctrine. Darat Run and I are the teachers of those classes. Our students are very happy and satisfied with their studies in those subjects.

I am thrilled to inform you that one our student preacher delivered a powerful sermon on Sunday. The congregation was deeply moved by their message, and it was truly a testament to the growth and dedication of our students. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to spreading the gospel and their ability to inspire others through their words.

Seminar:

We attended a joint seminar in Siem Reap. Our students and staff enjoy studying the topic of  "How do we get saved?".  Over 150 people attended that seminar. It is good to strengthen our faith and to know more about God’s will. And also help the people who are non-Christian yet. Because most of the people who attended the seminary did not become Christians yet.

Prayers:

Without your prayers and care we can’t do these things. Remember us in your prayers for our new plan to go to the new area, near the Angkor Was Temples and share God’s word with the souls who lost. The government has moved approximately 2000 local Cambodians away from the temples and creating a new village. These people are experiencing very difficult time but we we think that this is a great opportunity to bring them some good news of hope and salvation.  Every Sunday we travel from Siem Reap City to take an hour to get there. We also took our students with us to do that work. Please pray for us in Cambodia to do that work. May our God open their heart to receive God.

Again, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement.

Bible camp in Cambodia

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ:

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to provide you with a report on the recent International Bible Institute camping trip that took place in Cambodia. It was an incredible experience with over 205 people joining us for this spiritually enriching event.

The camping trip was held in a beautiful location in Cambodia, surrounded by nature and a serene atmosphere. The main objective of the trip was to bring together Christians from different countries and backgrounds to deepen their faith and learn from one another.

Throughout the duration of the camping trip, we were blessed with numerous good lessons and teachings. Prominent speakers from various parts of Cambodia shared their knowledge and wisdom, providing us with valuable insights into the scriptures.

Overall, the International Bible Institute camping trip in Cambodia was a resounding success. The event not only provided us with invaluable spiritual lessons but also created lasting friendships and memories. We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this enriching experience and look forward to future events that will continue to strengthen our faith and bring us closer to God.

As we continue to support our students in their faith journey, I kindly request your prayers for their continued growth in faith and knowledge. May they be strengthened in their commitment to the Lord and inspired to deepen their understanding of His teachings. Pray that they may continue to be effective ambassadors of the gospel, bringing hope and love to those they encounter.

Thank you for your support and encouragement. Together, we can empower these young individuals to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

Showing the love of Jesus in Cambodia

Dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,

I hope this report finds you well. I wanted to provide you with an update on the recent activities and progress made by our student group in October.

First, I am thrilled to inform you that one our students delivered a powerful sermon last Sunday. The congregation was deeply moved by the message, and it was truly a testament to the growth and dedication of our students. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to spreading the gospel and their ability to inspire others through their words.

Additionally, I wanted to share the exciting news that our student group embarked on a village outreach program. They visited a nearby village and actively engaged with the local community, sharing the gospel and extending their support to the church there. The reception they received was heartwarming, and the impact they made on the lives of the people in the village was truly remarkable.

During their visit, our students not only shared the gospel but also took the time to encourage and uplift the local church. They offered words of encouragement, provided practical assistance, and fostered a sense of unity and fellowship among the members.

Thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement. Together, we can empower these young individuals to make a lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

700 children attend kids camp in Cambodia

Glory to the Most High God and our Lord Jesus Christ for His mercies which abound on us.

The work in Siem Reap Cambodia is doing very good. We are very excited to share with you what we did in August 2023.

IBISR’s class:

Every Monday to Friday we begin with an hour long devotional at 6:30 in the morning. From 8:00 to 11:30 we have bible class study. After bible study, we have lunch together. In the afternoon all the students come to English class together.

In August 2023 IBISR’s school finished the books of Psalms and Denomination Doctrine. Now we are continuing in the books of Romans and Jeremiah.

Application week:

Every weekend, the students and staff of the IBISR’s school get to go out to preach the gospel to new people and encourage the church members who live out of town. We love sharing God’s words with three special villages: Ta Kamm, Sam Buor, and Kouk Khnang village. We have members of the church in each village and these have been especially good for recruiting new students.

Children’s camp:

Children’s camp in Siem Reap was attended by IBISR’s students, staff, and members of the church of Christ in Siem Reap. In that camp, we had 700 kids plus adults! The children are very joyful to study about Jesus Christ singing songs, playing games and eating together. Camp lasted 3 days over 3 different locations. All children immensely enjoyed being together in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Please remember us in your prayers.

1) Remember our new brothers and sisters in Christ who just got baptized into Christ: Brother Khoeun, Brother Watana, and Sister Sophorn.

2) The plans to join in the regional seminar next month.

3) Darat’s sister and Piseth’s nephew who are very sick.

Special efforts in Cambodia

We send our greetings to you all brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ! We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom. This is another good time to report what was happening at IBISR’s school in Siem Reap Cambodia during June 2023. We would like to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

Adding to the Family!
We were full of much joy that we saw three souls put into Christ by being baptized! It is always such happiness to see souls added to our family. All of them are from Siem Reap Church of Christ. Two of them are a couple and they have a son.  Please pray for these new babies in Christ so that they may grow in the image of His son Jesus Christ.

Short course:
Brother Wes Autrey taught I, II Timothy, and Titus which has helped our students very much as we are young Christians and young preachers.
We are so pleased to brief you on the short course in those books. We spent time together for two weeks in the classroom. In class, we have a lot of fun and study together. The students very much enjoyed the class. We were pleased with how the 15 students from Battambang and 12 students from Siem Reap joined together both virtually and physically in sacrificed their time to make that course finished successfully.

Lady Bug Camp:
Christian camp in Cambodia was attended by the students, staff of our institution, and including the ladies from Siem Reap and Battambang Church of Christ members. In that camp, we had 43 female participants who are Cambodian Christians from different regions. What a beautiful day for Christian ladies in Cambodia. It is a very great time for ladies to spend time studying God’s words and having fun together for two nights and three days without men. We are thankful to Wes Autrey and his wife Teri for their big love for us in Cambodia.

Prayer:
We always need your prayers for encouragement. Remember our new brothers and sisters in Christ who just got baptized into Christ.  And also remember (Mai) one of our students in IBISR’s Bible school just lost his grandma one week ago.

Cambodia students put their evangelism training into practice

We send our greetings to you all brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ! We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom. This is another good time to report what is happening at IBISR’s school SiemReap Cambodia during the month of March 2023. We really want to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

IBISR’s Academy:

Earlier this trimester, we completed the book of Prison Epistles, 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles.

Annual Seminar:

On the 8th of March, the IBISR has attended the secular workshop during the International Women’s Day (IWD) presented by my wife Ratana and myself.

It was a nice presentation and well prepared for maturing in our faith topic. This topic is absolutely beneficial for newly and the old baptized brethren. We had such a great fellowship with one another.

Application Week:

Since our students have finished some courses related to spreading the gospel to the world, it has been a couple of weeks that we have been working on the application of training our pupils to practice real evangelism by visiting our brethren in three different places. Each weekend,  Darat and I rotate in leading the students to share the words of God in three villages such as Ta Kamm, Sam Buor,  and Kouk Khnang villages.

A Weekly Virtual Chapel:

Every Friday, Wes Autrey, our coordinator, and his wife Teri Autrey give essential God’s truths in both male and female groups through virtual meetings. We are exceedingly respectful and grateful to them for dedicating a valuable moment to present God’s words through virtual meeting every Friday. From 9:30-10:00 A.M (Cambodian Time).

We always gather through an online meeting with our brothers, from Phnom Penh, Battambang, and Siem Reap every Wednesday. We rotate the teachers every week.

Cambodian brethren baptize twelve

We send our greetings to you all brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ! We give honor and glory to God who has given us this rare opportunity to work in His Kingdom. This is another good time to report what is happening at IBISR’s school Siem Reap Cambodia during the month of January 2023. We really want to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

IBISR’s Academy :

Now we are continuing to train our students in the books of 1, 2 Kings and 1, 2 Chronicles as well as the Prison Epistles. Darat Run and myself (Piseth Rin) are the teachers of those classes. Our students are very happy and satisfied with their studies in those subjects.

It was with much happiness that we saw 12 souls put on Christ in baptism. It is always such a joy to see souls added to our family. All of them are from Sombuo village. Please pray for these new babies in Christ so that they may grow in the image of His son Jesus Christ.

Seminar:

We attended a joint seminar at Battambang church of Christ. Our students and staff enjoy staying with the topic (Gospel chariot Missions). Over 60 members attended church in Battambang province. It is very good to have our faith strengthened and to know more about God’s will.

Restorations:

A man named Makara who used to be an IBISR student and he graduated about 5 years ago, walked away from the gospel for many years, but now he comes back to worship God with us every Sunday! And he also taught his wife named Nich to become a Christian. We rejoice in their returning to the Lord and living faithfully.

Prayers:

Without your prayers and care, we can’t do these things. Please keep Darat’s sister, who plans to do an operation soon. And also remember our new brothers and sisters in Christ who were recently baptized.

More souls saved in Cambodia!

From the Siem Reap International Bible Institute

We really want to thank you for taking the time to read this report and look at these recent photos.

IBISR

Our school has completed the books of Isaiah; 1, 2 Samuel; 1, 2 Corinthians. Now we are starting new studies in the books of 1, 2 Kings and 1, 2 Chronicles as well as the Prison Epistles. Darat Run and myself (Piseth Rin) are the teachers of those classes.

Seminar

We attended a joint seminar on New Years Eve with many other members of the Lords church in Cambodia. Over 100 members attended in Komport Province. It is always good to strengthen our faith - but especially good on this time of year when we can show Cambodia this is a time of renewing and refreshing.

Donating Blood

Some of our students and staff donated blood to the patients in the local hospitals.  This give us a sense of giving whatever we have to give and it sends the message that we care about physical life and eternal life at the same time.  The hospitals appreciate our giving and it gives us opportunity to represent God in a way that the world is grateful for.

Adding to the Family!

Last month we had 6 new souls added to the Kingdom of Christ and last week another made the decision to follow Christ as well!  So we rejoice in the 7 new souls added to the church and thank God first and all of you who had a hand in supporting the spreading of the good news of salvation!  Praise the Lord!

See Photos.

Prayers

• Please remember the new converts as Satan no doubt wants them to turn away from God.

• Sister Kong who is in the hospital - who is the mother of one of our students. As a note to remember - we evangelize from one family member to another in many cases and praying for the students and their families strengthens their faith and peaks their interest in Christianity.

We are blessed to be called Christians and blessed to have a loving God who cares for us through servants like you. We pray for all of you to have a faithful and hopeful New Year in Christ,

Piseth Rin and Darat Run

Continued growth in Cambodia

Cambodia - Monthly Report

August 2022

A warm welcome from Cambodia. We all appreciate your prayers and encouragement to the Bible Institute.

August 2022 school report.

IBISR’s Academy

Piseth Rin, one of our Bible instructors, has been lecturing on the book of Judges this week. Some pupils are eagerly studying and asking plenty of questions, which inspires our teachers to teach with passion. Darat Run, another of our instructors, hasn’t finished his course yet (The Life of Christ) since he had to take care of his mother-in-law, who recently underwent back surgery and lives in the city of Phnom Pehn (about 6 hour drive from Siem Reap).

A New Baptism

As brethren in Christ, we are all so excited and full of joy when one of our Bible students put the Lord Jesus in her life. Her name is Maneth. She comes from Oddar Meanchey Province, one of the provinces in Cambodia. She has been studying at our institute for almost a year. Please keep her in our prayer to help her be faithful throughout her life.

Student Monthly Survey

We are still working on our Monthly Survey since it has helped improve our institution so much. This evaluation includes all comments and helpful criticism of our school, the Bible instructors, the cook, the English teacher, and the students themselves. All students and staff are welcome to share their opinions through this survey, which is anonymous and allows for comments and constructive criticism. The students and staff are not required to offer their identifications seem to intrigue them, according to this survey. We concentrate on broad concerns rather than a specific ones. We encourage students and employees to seek confidential help first if they are having a personal problem with one another.

A Weekly Virtual Chapel

Wes Autrey, our coordinator, and his wife Teri Autrey share important God’s messages in both male and female groups via virtual meetings every Tuesday and Friday, for which we are incredibly grateful.

Every Wednesday, we also get together with our brothers from Phnom Penh, Battambang, and Siem Reap. Every week, we switch up the teachers.

A Substitute Teaching

While one of our teachers named Darat Run had been to Phnom Penh to take care of his mother-in-law who had an operation, brother Phanat Ouch spent a week in helping to resume the class that brother Darat has paused.

Monthly Fellowship Dinner

Due to the monthly donations from the congregation in Siem Reap and our Christian families, this special fellowship lunch is made possible. We are all very thankful for their devotion to God because it shows how our church has expanded and allowed our new Christian members to see how a disciple of Jesus values giving. Every month, we hold this picnic. Typically, this occurs on Saturday nights during the first week of the month. We alternate the location where we celebrate this supper each month. As a result, the world will observe how Christians interact with each other, strengthening us to maintain fellowship with one another.

A Weekly Lady Class

The ladies like to spend more time rehearsing and learning how to educate the kids, and the other ladies, as well as they, offer all the ladies a try to lecture in the women's group as they alternate turns to instruct the kids every Sunday morning. At Hannah’s Hope Children’s Home, they often get this instruction every Sunday night. They have benefitted from this exercise in developing their courage and learning from one another on how to train the young people and the female group.

Asking Prayers

We couldn’t create these works without your prayers and support. Please remember our students in your prayers so that they will be at peace and prepared to teach Bible lessons. Please remember our new mothers and newborns. Also remember Pros’ grandfather, who is suffering from a stroke, and Darat’s mother- and mother-in-law who just underwent surgery.

Lots of activity in Cambodia

A pleasant greeting from Cambodia.

IBISR’s Academy

Piseth Rin, our co-director, has finished his class in the book ‘’LEVITICUS’’. Our co-director, Darat Run, has completed the class ‘’Fundamental of the church II’’.

Joining a Wedding Party

Since early March, most church members went to join Sean and Synam's wedding party, which was celebrated in Srey Snorm District, Siem Reap, Cambodia.  Both Sean (pronounced see-un) and Synam (pronounced see-nime) are graduates of IBISR. The ceremony was performed in a Christian way and the traditional way. Please keep this new Christian couple in your prayers as they will face many difficulties with families to remain faithful, but they continue to worship with our family at Siem Reap.

A Seminar in Phnom Penh

On the 08th of March, which is International Women’s Day, most of us when to join a seminar in Phnom Penh city which was organized by the Best Center. We gained a lot of knowledge from the words of God, especially since we have built an amazing friendship as brethren in Christ.

A Substitute Teaching

Earlier in March, since brother Phanat has a significant task to complete, he asked our teacher named Piseth Rin to replace him in teaching the book of Hebrew through a virtual class (Zoom Cloud Meetings) for E412 Center which is in Battambang province.

This is how we help teach one another, grow in spirit and keep in touch with other Christians as we encourage each other.

Public Holiday (Khmer New Year)

Since Cambodians haven’t celebrated the Khmer New Year for the last two years, and all the students cannot visit their families during this public holiday, the government allowed us to celebrate again this year. We allowed our students to visit their families and relatives during this special occasion.

Bible Chapel Class

We are so grateful to our coordinator named Wes Autrey and his wife named Teri Autrey for sharing valuable God's words in both female and male classes through virtual meetings every Tuesday and Friday.

We also have another meeting every Wednesday with our brethren from Phnom Penh, Battambang, and Siem Reap. We rotate each teacher each week. We continue to understand God’s will for all of us through God’s Word presented by different members of the church.  You can see bong Wes’ father Roger Autrey from Garfield, teaching one of these chapels.

Bible Short Course

After Khmer New Year, all of our students and staff went straight to the Bible school to join a class with our coordinator (Wes). Typically, during Khmer New Year we have a two-week break, yet we couldn’t wait to meet and study with him, so we had only one week's break.

In the class, we had a wonderful time and gained knowledge from him regarding our relationship with God.. We all thank and appreciate his visit. Bong Wes also coordinated a series of 4 chapel  lessons from different teachers in the U.S. Each lesson had something to do with our personal relationship with God.  We would then discuss these lessons with bong Wes.  We appreciate;ciate all the men who led us in each study.

Service Work

We continue to help our brothers and sisters in any way we can physically - so that we can also help them in spiritual matters and encouragement.

Asking Prayers

Without your prayers and support, we can't do all of this. Please keep our work and plan in your prayers, especially for our new mothers and newborn babies.

Servant of God,

Darat Run - co-director

Siem Reap welcomes visiting brethren

Warm Greetings from Cambodia,

Camping at Darat's House Earlier this month the E412 Center (Bible School in Battambang) visited us and set up a tent camp at brother Darat’s house in the country, just outside of Siem Reap. We joined them in fellowship, food, songs and praise to God. It was a very good time for all of us to get together and reconnect in our friendship after having been separated for a long time due to COVID restrictions. This time together allows us to build up and encourage one another as we drive to maintain our faith and overcome many obstacles in Cambodia.

Marriage Seminar Most of our students are young and single, IBISR invited Wayne and Tami Roberts of the Memorial Church of Christ in Houston, Tx to spend a few days with us on zoom. Brother Wes coordinated this event and it was well received and needed by our group. The E412 Bible School in Battambang also joined in along with numerous other small groups, individuals and families. Many questions were asked to Wayne and the women asked many questions to Tami about being godly husbands and wives. We prayed together, sang songs in the main session and then would separate into two zoom rooms for women and men. We appreciate what brother Wayne and his wife Tami shared. Our students realized the significance of finding a spouse who will please the Lord.

Cycling Fellowship for Women During the Independence Day of Cambodia, most of the female church members rode around the temple area, near Siem Reap, on bicycles. The church leaders used money saved to help the unemployed members for renting bicycles so they could participate in the fun activity. We do this to demonstrate positive example of fellowship in our country. The men even took care of the children so their spouses could join in. We are planning a trip to Battambang at the end of the year so that we can once again fellowship with our sisters and brothers there, while being an example of Christianity in that city.

Chapel We continue to meet for chapel lessons twice a week with Battambang, brother Wes and his wife Teri who teaches the ladies.

Classes We study daily and grow daily in our Bible school work. Being taught truth from God’s word helps us understand our purpose and our future.

Baptisms We have had a good year in growing the church. 12 baptisms here in the Siem Reap area but there are more conversions in the villages where our graduates continue to preach and teach. It is very exciting to planting the seed of God’s word and watching it grow.

Thankfulness We are very grateful for our supporters and continue to strive to glorify God and be faithful in our hearts and actions daily.

Overcoming challenges in Cambodia

Greetings From the International Bible Institute of Siem Reap - Cambodia

We continue to glorify God for all of the opportunities He has given us to serve Him.

It is a difficult situation around the world and we are also struggling with COVID-19 more than ever. The government has asked us to not gather in large groups and to wear masks. We are receiving the vaccination and most of of the staff and students have taken their second dosage, so we should all be fairly well protected at this point. We will continue to adhere to the governments rules and pray for protection against this deadly disease.

We go to the villages to help our brother and sisters who are also struggling with this disease and those others who need our help. It is another opportunity to serve others as Christ’s example was for us. This allows our students to have an opportunity to evangelize and show their nation what Christianity should look like. In the last two months, we have been able to reach out and help others - bringing light and encouragement to them.

Our brother and coordinator Wes Autrey and his wife Teri have been teaching us on zoom every week on a variety of topics. Wes teaches the men while the women break out into another zoom room and Teri teaches them. Participating in this is also the Battambang Bible School, which has about 15 more attending these Bible studies. These joint Chapel/Bible Classes have been very beneficial to us, especially since we cannot travel because of COVID. We are getting to know our brothers and sisters in Christ better because of this.

Recent full time courses completed include: Christian Morality; The Book of Daniel; and the Song of Solomon.

Less than one month ago two of our students received their Certificates of Completion. We are so proud of both sister Sarai So and sister Lekh Sarouen for not giving up and studying all the way through our 3 year program. Both ladies overcame many obstacles to finish. They are an inspiration to everyone that is continuing school and their families. At graduation we had all of the families present and staff, but had to limit the usual size to about 50 people. Many joined in on zoom for the graduation from brother Wes’ house including the President of the Bear Valley Bible Institute Denny Petrillo and his wife Kathy; the Vice President Michael Hite and his wife Lynn; One of the professors of BVBI John Moore and his wife Carla, Wayne Burger professor at BVBI and his wife Weezie. Tyler King the Director of Development at BVBI joined in on another zoom window from Oklahoma while his wife Natalie was at brother Autrey’s house. Many others joined from other zoom windows and it made for a good graduation under the circumstances.

* Coordinators Note (Wes Autrey) The last portion of the graduation ceremony was especially moving for me. Each lady was given an opportunity to speak and did they ever! Both with courage and conviction stood tall with tears in their eyes and addressed their families both Christian and non Christian glorifying God with the unity of God’s family taking precedence over their own worldly families. I was so impressed but not shocked. These two ladies have matured and grown in Christ exponentially and their courage is to be commended. The Lord certainly did not give these humble ladies a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline!

Recently our government has widened the road in front of our school and in doing so, they took out our school wall. We are in the process of building another one and are faithful that our God will provide.

At this point may we ask for your prayers in the COVID-19 situation as it is getting worse, especially in Siem Reap where our school is located. This makes it difficult to recruit new students to bring to our school.

Please pray for the leaders in the service of God, such as teachers, students, church leaders, our orphans - so that we may be strong during these times. Also pray for our new Christians who are just learning what it means to be “like Christ” as we help them through this journey.

To our brother Wes Autrey: This is for Brother Wes, we really thank you for the training, encouragement, dedication, both physical and mental, and for personal sacrifice and giving.

May the living God bless you all from the same servant on the other side of the sea.

Piseth Rin

Servant of the Lord & Co-Director IBISR

Online courses in Cambodia

International Bible Institute of Siem Reap, Cambodia

Rejoicing for Souls Saved

It has already been a very emotional and productive year and we are just getting started.

We rejoice in the baptisms of 4 new souls added to the Lord’s church! On January 9, two new students in our Bible school put on Christ. Heus and Sanith, both from Tropeang Svay village outside of Siem Reap, had been studying with us and had many questions.

A few days later we rejoiced with the angels again in the addition of two young ladies, Sreymom and SreyTuk who have been learning about God and the Bible since small children. Now they have taken the step to be saved in Christ!

In Loving Memory

We are sad to have lost our dear brother Vannak Yeng on December 16th. Vannak was one of our oldest leaders in the church and school and leaves his wide, sister Puen and three teenage children. Even though his death was sudden and unexpected we know he abides in Paradise and the hope we all desire is now his. We are a very close family here at the church in Siem Reap, and we ask for your continued prayers because of the effect his passing has had. Even though Vannak was older he did not let perceptions become obstacles and he graduated from IBISR in 2015 and continued doing the work of the Lord teaching in the school and preaching. Vannak had done a lot of great work and his legacy will be remembered by everyone that knew him or of him.

Acts / Zoom Class

Wayne Burger is an exceptional personal worker and teacher. He holds an A.A. degree in Bible and a Third Year Bible Certificate from Freed-Hardeman College; B.A. in Bible from Abilene Christian University; M.B.S. from the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver. He has been a regular writer for the Rocky Mountain Christian. Furthermore, he has been preaching since 1962.

From the 04th to the 29th of January, the IBISR hosted a virtual online course through Zoom Clouds Meeting and lived stream on the IBISR's official page for watching later. That virtual class was about the Book of Acts.

The IBISR and E412 centers are so grateful you were our teacher, and we thank you for your patience throughout this whole course. It meant a lot to us. We had learned a lot even it was an online class. You are hands down and ready to answer all kinds of questions, you are the best teacher we've ever had. I'll always remember attending your class. You are the best teacher!. We wish you and your family all the best in 2021.

Courses Studied

Besides the recent Acts class on Zoom, Piseth has just finished his class on 1 & 2 Peter and Darat has just finished the book of Romans.

Upcoming Zoom Short Course

In a few weeks we are looking forward to being taught by brother Denny Petrillo on the subject of “How We Got the Bible”. We are excited to learn more about this topic.

Church

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hadn't spread much in Cambodia, the Ministry of Health has allowed us to meet in the church building as usual. We have gathered together in the church building since September 2020 in a small adult group, but now we spend two hours in a large group.

Thanks to everyone around the world.

Appreciation for all your support through physical and spiritual things. We couldn’t do all these things without the Lord and your contributions. Please keep us in your prayers!

A tribute to Vannak Yeng

My Friend Vannak - The Best Lesson I Never Heard

I always new where my friend Vannak was - all I had to do was listen for a spiritual conversation and look for a big smile. How do I encapsulate my brother and pay tribute to him in a short note? I have many great memories, but none more poignant than The The Best Lesson I Never Heard.

One Sunday afternoon Vannak, myself and a few other brothers in Christ headed out to conduct worship service for a man and his wife and their two very small children who lived on a boat on Tonle Sap Lake about an hours drive from Siem Reap. This young couple had been members of the church for about 6 months and had very little in the way of possessions. We went with intentions of giving them some much needed relief money. The hour long ride gave me time to ask Vannak what his lesson would be about. His reply, “Giving”… I thought to myself “Giving?! Seriously?! These people live in extreme poverty and you're going to preach to them about giving?”

As we arrived at the lake we walked about 300 yards passing by a few boats along the shoreline. Passing by I glanced into the shadows of one and could see some little eyes looking out at me. A few yards further down we entered on to the couples boat and Vannak presented his sermon on giving. I never heard the lesson because it was in their native Khmer language. After the lesson, we all put a little money into the contribution with the intent that the young couple received most of it.

A discussion followed between Vannak and the young man. After some smiles, some hugs and a prayer they took up the collection and walked towards the boat where I had seen the little eyes peering out. Apparently Vannak’s lesson had inspired the young man and his young wife to give all that was on the table to the family in the nearby boat, who were in desperate need of comfort and hope.

In the photos attached you will see Vannak walking with the young brother down to the neighbors boat to give all they had in Christ like service.

I’ll never forget this lesson or the man who delivered it.

Vannak was ready to become one of the first ever elders in Siem Reap but he suddenly passed away last week, leaving behind his wife Puen and three teenage children, Benjamin, David and Sokning. Vannak taught at the International Bible Institute of Siem Reap, Cambodia. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. However we live in the faith that we will be reunited soon and for all eternity.

Classes continue in Cambodia

Cambodia Update

School

We continue to study God’s word without dangers of COVID-19. Our country has not suffered as much as the rest of the world and so we are taking advantage of that and continuing to meet and grow in God’s word.

Some of our students have had to go home and help out with their families during this time, but we hope they will be able to return soon. One of our young lady students had her motorbike stolen right here at the school, but the church and staff and student body has helped her to pay for the lost bike - she owed over $2,000. We are a family so we help out one another in everything.

Our school classes currently involve the Major Prophets and Lesson Development. We also have special classes taught in the evenings for the new students who need some foundational building blocks before taking the more advanced classes.

Zoom chapels continue on Wednesday mornings with the Bible School at Battambang. Brother Wes and both staffs rotate speaking lessons to the men while sister Teri teaches the ladies on Women of the Bible. On Friday mornings we zoom with Brother Wes for another chapel lesson.

The staff meets on Friday evenings with brother Wes and we discuss interesting Bible questions and pray for our families and the students and their needs.

We are involved in Service Days where we go and help the other small churches and their neighbors with anything they might need. Encouraging, feeding and praying for them. It is a good thing for us to be involved as it shows us how to serve and it show the Buddhist people how Christians act.

Church

As the ministry of Religion has banned all the churches in Cambodia worship in small groups during COVID-19, we decided to meet up in two groups. After the pandemic decreased in spreading, we decided to meet up in the church building with all the church members.

The nutritional program has been put on pause since COVID-19 has happened, so the organizers decided to save three months budget to buy some food such as rice bags, noodles, hygiene products, and also some cooking ingredients. Most of the church members and IBISR families have joined this special charity event. We not only provided this food for Christians but also for the unbelievers. We have worked with the village chiefs to coordinate and so far we have helped out about 120 families.

Prayers

We need your prayers for these things:

• Recently we have had terrible flooding throughout our country and it has taken lives, food, and jobs away from the people.

• Our students who have many questions about God, the Bible and their souls.

• Our school and church leaders who must take care of all our needs and lead in a Godly way.

Appreciation

We could do nothing without your support. We have the same Lord who always strengthens us.

Zooming in Cambodia

Cambodia Update

Even the COVID-19 Pandemic can not stop us from studying God’s word. Colleges, Universities, schools and institutions have closed down, but not our International Bible Institute at Siem Reap. We are extremely appreciative of how our brethren have shown us love and support.

Our staff and students are still very curious about the words of God and want to keep on learning! One of our Co- Directors Piseth is teaching the Wisdom Literature (Psalm - Ecclesiastes). Our other Co-Director, Darat, is teaching the 2 Part of the Minor Prophets. As you know from the last report we have 3 new students who are full time now.

It is an encouragement to all of us to share with them God’s word. We stay in touch with our sister churches in the area and do as much as we can to help them. However, they need your prayers as they struggle with many issues and temptations of the world. One of our students had her motorbike stolen and we have helped her with those payments for almost a year. She has been very grateful and she has been working part time to make those payments, even though she doesn’t have a motorbike.

Wednesday Morning Zoom Meetings

We are using Zoom to stay in contact with Brother Wes and the church in Battambang, about 3 hours away. Battambang has many people that were once graduates of IBISR so they are our brothers and sisters that we love dearly. Our meetings are with another bible school in Battambang. There are about 40 total online as we sing, pray and study together. Sister Teri teaches the ladies in a break-out room on Women of the Bible. Brother Wes and the men rotate teaching on various subjects.

Friday Morning Zoom Meetings.

On Friday mornings Brother Wes is teaching just IBISR. Right now he is teaching about the Holy Spirit. We want to continue to learn about the Godhead. After this we have submitted various questions that we want to study.

Friday Evenings

Brother Wes and the staff from IBISR and Brother Phanat have a Bible study and talk about many personal things to help us become more accountable and better leaders in the family, school and church. Please pray for brother Chann, our preacher who is struggling with some personal issues and decisions. We could do nothing without your concern and support, especially from the Lord who strengthens us.

Please keep us in your prayers.

An update from Cambodia

Greetings from the International Bible School in Siem Reap Cambodia.
Our hope is in the Lord for all things, including our struggles with the Coronavirus.
We pray for you and your dealings with this disease as well.

Here are some of the exciting things happening at our school and related to our school:

We begin with the most exciting news,WE HAVE 4 NEW STUDENTS!  Our current student body has welcomed them in with love.
We will have joint classes, but also split classes for the freshmen and the upper class students.
Here is a little about each of the new students - please pray for them as they learn about Jesus, God and their purpose on this earth.

Heus
Heus comes from Siem Reap Province nearby the town of Leang Dai (where the preacher and one of our alumni Sokchea Lork is).
Heus learned about our Bible school from Sokchea and would like to learn more about the Bible and English language.
Heus is to be commended for his desire to do something more with his life, because he says this “There is nothing to do at home and people are dropping out of school.  I want to study the Bible and make new friends”.

Saneth
Saneth also comes from the Siem Reap Province near Leang Dai.
He also heard about the Bible school from Sokchea and wants to learn about the Bible and pick up some computer skills.
“I think this is a good school that can teach about being a good person, practical in knowing right from wrong” - Saneth.

Bopta
Bopta comes from the city of Battamban, which is about 3 hours drive from Siem Reap.
He heard about our bible school through our Facebook Page!
“This seems like a good school to learn how to be saved from sin, to be a better person, and improve my Bible knowledge”.

Sreymom
Sreymom comes to us from the Siem Reap city area.
She also found us through our Facebook page and became curious to meet us and see what we were teaching.
She desires to learn about God and make friends who are good people.
“I have a chance now to make friends at a good school, I want to learn more about God, English and computer skills”.

Please keep these and our current student body and staff in your prayers as we work hard at teaching new souls about Jesus and His saving blood for mans sins.

______________________________

We continue to teach through the Bible and take evangelistic and “family” trips together for bonding.
We have just finished Galatians, 1, 2 Thessalonians and Jude.
Currently we are studying the Wisdom Literature books, and the Minor Prophets.

______________________________

Brother Wes Autrey has been teaching us in Zoom Chapels on Friday mornings.
We also join him and the Battambang bible school for a chapel together on Wednesday mornings.

Our staff consisting of Brother Wes, Darat, Piseth, Vannak, Pros join and Phanat from Battambang and Chann from Siem Reap - study each Friday night on a personal Bible study.
Each week we assign a topic and study it during the week and then discuss it together on zoom for some engaging discussions.

Also each morning we have each one of us posts a devotional on our private facebook page so we can begin our day with some spiritual thoughts and grow together each day.
This has been very good for all of us to study some, but also learn to write things down and share our personal growth with.

Below are photos of our 4 new students.
Thank you for your kind prayers and love for our teachers, our families and our students!

Doing good in Cambodia

IBISR

Co-Director and class instructor Piseth Rin has been teaching (The Book of Acts) since the 07th of January. Co-Director Darat Run went to Kampong Speu Province for a week for interpreting. Darat recently returned with a good experience of talking and teaching with others about Bible related topics.

CHURCH

Siem Reap Church of Christ is doing well and we did not face any problems. Please keep our church members in your prayers for encouraging one another to be faithful. We rotate our teachers on Sundays and Wednesday Bible classes which gives us opportunities to study and grow in maturity and faith.

BUILDINGS RELATIONSHIPS

We continue to have face-time meetings with our brethren from Battambang Church of Christ for chapel classes. We teach and they teach, both asking questions and studying together.

A SUPPORTIVE STUDENT

Our Bible school continues to support Saroeun twenty dollars every month for a whole year. Our school has been supporting her monthly installment loan since the 1st of August,2019. Ouem recently had her motorbike stolen right from our Bible School in broad daylight. Leadership has loaned her a motorbike to get to and forth from work as a hotel attendant - this helps her support herself and pay for a motorbike that was stolen.

ASKING FOR YOUR PRAYERS

We would like to ask you to keep helping us in an individual. Recently, our part-time student name Vutha (Vut-tha) has some problems with concentration and sleeping. Especially, please continue to pray for our work and Bible students in Cambodia.

APPRECIATION

We thank all of you for your prayers in our young students, staff and school. Everyone participates but we all struggle with different issues in life. We thank you for being our brothers and sisters because it makes us feel like part of a Christian family and we can do anything, no matter how small. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. God is amazing and made all these things happen.

Servants of Christ,

Piseth Rin - Co-Director

Prayers requested in Cambodia

Hello Brothers and Sisters from Cambodia,
We are ever grateful for everyone who is a part of our Bible school, whether in prayer, support or both.

School Update We have been going through some difficult times at IBISR with our students. Many who enrolled last year have had to return home or leave to help support their families income. Our staff is determined to lead and work through these times of recruiting and teaching. We understand that the Lord is watching over us and keep us in His protection and that He expects us to remain faithful and optimistic. All of our staff and current students have been on a continual effort to recruit new students at the universities, villages and in Siem Reap. Many are interested as we handed out information and talked with village leaders. These interested said that after the Pchum Ben festival Holiday (over Oct. 1) would respond.
We have been on Holiday Break and will return to classes next week. Please pray for us as we continue on with our Bible school and the church at Siem Reap.
Darat (director) has visited eight churches, many villages and some as far as the Thailand border to recruit new students interested in Bible and our Lord Jesus.

SEMINAR/WORKSHOPOn the 13th and 14th of September, we attended the seminar at Battambang Church of Christ. Our Bible institute leaders had been spending time for a whole week in a workshop, on the topic of (How to start a business or career as a Christian), which also took place at Battambang Church of Christ.
NATIONAL HOLIDAY Our institution has been closed for a week and it will resume on the 2nd of October. In the meantime, we allowed all students and teachers to visit families and relatives during this special festival called the Pchum Ben Festival.

Classes continue on through the Old Testament and New Testament in teaching our students about the Bible. We are maturing in Christ and standing firm in the faith. Please pray for our students and leaders Darat, Piseth, Pros and Vannak and their families as we never give up on God or our brothers and sisters.
