A Glimpse Of Graduation Scheduled For Tamale, Ghana...

Greetings from Tamale.

Everyone here is doing well by the grace of the living God. The Institute is fervently preparing for the graduation ceremony which is slated for 2nd July, 2015 at the Institute's premises. We wish to invite all to come and be part of this very important day since it is the same day late sister Avril will be honored for her committed service to the Institute in which she died. May her soul rest in peace.

Another activity the Institute is planning is a Sector Fellowship Meeting for all women in the three northern regions. This is being organized in collaboration with Sister Asabea, a member of Ashiama Church in Accra. The Institute is doing everything possible to offer a uniform growth among both men and women in the Church in the Northern sector of Ghana.

Everything is on course, and by his grace, we hope to bring the needed spiritual development in the Church of Christ in Ghana. At a workshop organized for preachers and leaders during the short break, it was resolved that henceforth  the gospel will be preached at all places and to everyone regardless of the presence of a Christian at such places. In order to edify the congregations yet to be established, preachers have been grouped to work at their district centers to teach basic topics which leaders need to man the congregations till a preacher is gotten for such a congregation.

It is hoped that these developments will bring positive growth in the establishment and sustenance of the congregations. We pray that these plans can be supported to a successful end.

"The Only True Church Found In This Area," Please Read This Report...

It’s my hope that this finds you well with the same motive of serving the Lord of our God Jesus Christ. I, myself, would like to give my special thanks to you for being a part of this work, by your prayers and by you donating funds for the Lord. I am very impressed by things which are done by you. Brother Charles wrote about preacher Koimere from Monduli juu, whose throat was swelling. Immediately you responded, then Koimere made an appointment with his doctor at KCMC hospital, and brothers and sisters at the Kilimanjaro church, which is closer to that hospital, served him. Now this action has brought a big impact to the Monduli Juu church where Koimere is preaching. As I went last weekend to see him, he had a big smile on his face, telling me about what is happening to the people who knew him before the surgery, especially non-believers.They are visiting him by groups, and say we have seen the church that has unity. These people thought this young man was going to die. On my way back, I met one elderly man. When he realized I was a stranger in that area, he asked, “Where are you coming from young man?” I answered him, “From the church of Christ.”Then he said, “Where Koimere preaches?”  When I said, “Yes,” he said, “That is the only true church found in this area.” Please continue to pray that he can recover soon.

ACSOP Programs
Next week ACSOP will start another long quarter after finishing a short-course taught by Godfrey Mngoma, Clement Mebanya, and Wilfred Masawe from Morogoro. Thursday, we took first year students to the clinic for a check up of any communicable disease.

Kisongo Church Programs Improvement
The Kisongo church has improved programs by dividing children into two groups: from babies to six years old and from seven years to the time of baptism. Also we have added a new class for teenagers. Kisongo Bible school is helping to recruit some of the members to teach in some of these classes.

The Up Date From Spiritual Discipline Seminar
Two weeks ago I was at Mtowa Mbu. We had an amazing seminar there with a number of people. Last Sunday, Isaac Kusupa was at Mtowa Mbu, Maurice Gasper was at Arusha, and Charles Hubert closed the seminar at Ilkiurei. From the coming Sunday, the Seminar will shift gears to the Kisongo church. The first speaker will be brother Daniel Gaines, with an introduction of the seminar. I can’t wait to hear him.  Please pray for all these.

Excitement Is In The Air As Expansion Is Set To Begin...

After an exciting graduation in Guatemala last Sunday, the week that followed continued to emphasize the power of God, who continually gives the increase to the gospel proclaimed. The reports this week share how souls were added to the church, Christians were strengthened in the faith, and new congregations were planted where no church existed before.

Students in Denver return to classes on Monday. For seven special men, this is the last quarter of their studies at the Bear Valley Bible Institute. These men and their families traveled from numerous states to share in the two-year program of study in Denver. They endured the challenges and they are prepared for the home stretch to graduation. We ask you all to pray for these men as they leave Denver at the end of May to enter ministry work across the country.

Additionally, the new school in Mbanga, Cameroon (French speaking Cameroon) is set to open doors to the first class of students in one week. Brother Ititi, a graduate from the school in Wotutu, serves as the director for this new school. He was groomed while at CBIW and has a heart for evangelism. We anticipate reports from him that relate the outreach efforts of these new students as they prepare themselves to serve in the kingdom.

Excitement is in the air as the Bear Valley Bible Institute expands the extension program in new places around the world. If the congregation where you worship is interested in a specific area of the world and would like to expand their mission work in the area of preacher training, please contact us and we will sit down to discuss how this is possible. You can write me at bturner@wetrainpreachers.com.

Now on to this week’s incredible reports...

One Incredible Week In Lebialem And Wotutu, Cameroon...

Dearest In Christ,

Greetings and love from your brothers and sisters in Christ here in Cameroon. We do hope you are doing great in all that you do for the family and the church. God bless you and all your efforts for His work here on earth.

As I am writing this report, we just returned from the long trip where we spent five days on house-to-house evangelism in Lebialem. God went ahead of us and fertilized the land for the seed to germinate as we sow it. It was another huge success as we saw the power of God’s word changing lives and giving hope to the hopeless, and above all rescuing many from the captivity of Satan.

Two 30 seats vans were hired for the trip to Lebialem because both current students and graduates of CBIW were part of the trip to take the gospel to Menji for the very first time. God gave us a safe trip to and from. We thank you for all your prayers.

Our mission in Lebialem was for evangelism, as we do our best to practice our motto: Evangelism is our Mission and our Mission is Evangelism. The people were happy to welcome us. They were so receptive, as they were hearing something new from the Bible away from their Roman Catholic teaching.

Both current students and graduates from CBIW were happy to be part of that history making event, to establish a new congregation in Menji, the administrative capital of Lebialem.

The CBIW family is growing, as the trip was an opportunity for the current students to meet with their seniors who were in CBIW before them. Contacts and other fellowship was part of the trip.

We moved from one house to another, from one market place and office to another, and a total of more than 20 cartons of tracts from Mission Printing were shared, meaning thousands of copies in the hands of people who love to read and are eager to study some more. Keep this effort in your prayers so that it will bear fruit soon.

I was privileged to share the gospel with an educated icon in the Menji community. He is a retired mayor. He was happy to know the steps of salvation from our tracts. He said he will study more. I saw a bright tomorrow from him, as he was taking his time to read the tracts. Many thanks to Mission Printing for the ocean container that was sent to us, which is helping us accomplish much, to God all glory goes.

The chief of Menji was part of the whole program. He hosted us in his palace, something which I have never seen in my life, that the chief would allow the church inside the palace and right into the conference room, and allow us to cook in his kitchen and sleep in other rooms in the palace. He also worshiped with us today, with his wives. We gave him the tract on polygamy, and he said, “hahahaha.” I love the Lord and the word he has heard, but it will be difficult for him to remain with one wife because he will be laughed at by other chiefs. Many wives exposes your wealth. Keep chief Fomenki in your prayers, as I saw open doors in him.

The house-to-house evangelism exposes the truth to entire Roman Catholic dominated communities. The word, which is more than atomic bomb, went into the hearts of many who looked down on their positions in denominations, like one sister, who was the president of a denominational group with the Presbyterian organization. She was overjoyed to obey the truth and also to move around and tell her members what has happened in her life. With tears, I saw how the gospel is amazing. Keep her in your prayers, as she is pregnant. The husband said, “let my wife keep going, I will watch her and follow if need be.”

Our intention was to go and establish a new congregation in Menji, but God had something more than that to accomplish in Menji. We baptized a lady pastor of the Deeper Life denomination in another village. Our students were preaching and teaching the gospel inside the market and they met her. She was aggressive from the beginning and told our students to go to unbelievers who don’t know Christ. They pleaded with her that she can even take a tract and read. She took a reply to a denominational preacher, just the caption attracted her and she started reading there in the market. She called them to come and that opened close to 3 hours of study with her. She later apologized for her behavior and told them, “I have almost led many to hell including my poor old mother.” They told her repent and be baptized. She obeyed in the market and invited some of them to come to her village and preach the same message. The next day we went there and baptized the other adult of that denomination and placed the name Church of Christ, Belehngeh. So we have another congregation, making two congregations established during this trip. God is faithful and the field continues to be wide and laborers are few. One of our graduates, who is already working in two congregations near to these, will work in all 4 congregations, but that will not be possible and it will not help keep these souls alive. We need to start from this weekend sending our students to go and help. It will cost us 23.000 frs to make this happen weekly. If not, our efforts may be down. Keep this in your prayers and your thoughts.

A student, Atem Gladys obeyed the gospel with joy. She said, “I am happy to know Christ at my age, 18.” Keep her in your prayers to grow, so that her growth will attract many to come to the Body through her lifestyle.

Dorothy is 17 years old and she also obeyed the gospel. She is also happy that she did because her parents wanted her to join the sisterhood of the Roman Catholic church when she finished from school in two years time. She said I have seen the truth and I cannot drop it off for something which is baseless and unscriptural. My eyes were full of tears as I hear this type of confession from young soldiers of the cross. My heart poured out and we cannot afford to leave these souls only in the hands of evangelist John Nkemnkeng who will not be able to handle these four congregations. Many things are needed to be put in place: we need benches, Bibles, a sign board, and a motor bike to help this work stay alive. These are emergency needs, keep praying for the work. For 5 days the Lord added 27 precious souls and we fished out 3 brethren who moved to that area. Because the church was not there they stayed like that without worshipping. Please, please come join us to keep this work going. It will spread to many other communities. The news about us is on everyone’s lips now. We have planted enough seeds. We need to water it more, so that God will continue to give the increase in time. Last week ended like this:

27 baptisms
3 restorations
2 new congregations established
More than 20 boxes of tracts shared
Many Bible studies conducted

Some of our new converts were smiling with us. In the presence of God there is joy and there is fullness of joy. Keep praying for us.

After my sermon this morning another six souls obeyed the gospel and moved in front of the congregation.

Plan
We start classes tomorrow in Wotutu for the second quarter. I will teach on Tuesday and thereafter take a short vacation to get myself refreshed. I was planning to travel to Nigeria, but may be the insecurity of the election may not warrant me do that. Keep me in your prayers.

Appreciation
God bless you double fold for all that you are doing. Thanks for your prayers and support towards the work here. God will bless you and keep you safe and strong. If not for you, we doubt what would have happened here with the work. Keep it. The one that wins souls is wise.

Do your best to share this with others.

Eager Students Work, Study, And Learn More Of God's Word...

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord,

I want to thank each of you for your support, prayers, encouragement and interest in the work of Haiti. It is because of concerned congregations and individuals like you that we are now in the second half of the school year at the International School of Theology (IST) in Haiti.

Our students are eager to work, study and learn more of God’s precious word. As this class progresses, I can see that some of these students will have a great impact on the work in Haiti.  Please pray for each of them as continue their studies.

The Students at IST
We are blessed to have these men as preacher students. They are dedicated and have a longing for more knowledge of God’s word. As the first year is quickly coming to an end, they want to continue with their studies. We do plan to have some special classes during the summer to focus on specific needs and issues that face the church in Haiti. You may not know the names of these men but God does and I am asking you to please pray for them.

He Fought the Good Fight
He Finished the Race
He Kept the Faith

George I. Brown, a faithful and hard working servant of God, has departed this world to be with his Lord. At age 95 he was still active in the San Nicolas church of Christ in Aruba. His dedication and service was an example for others to follow.

There were times when brother Brown and his wife were the only members of the congregation   in attendance. He would teach the Bible class, lead the prayers, lead the singing, preach the  sermon and serve communion. Sister Brown would listen, ask and answer questions during Bible class and at times would respond during the invitational song, even though they were the only two present. On one occasion sister Brown said, “He needed me to ask for prayers as much as I need them.” Two great servants of God!

I first met the Browns when I worked with the church in 1981 as a student at International Bible  College, now Heritage Christian University. Our loss is heaven’s gain. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Devotion and Bible Study at the Son Light Children’s Home
Roberta Edwards serves as the Director for the home-mom as she is called by the children in the home. While some may call it an orphanage–it is not. This is a home where the children are loved, nurtured, educated and when necessary, disciplined. Roberta has served in Haiti for more than 18 years. Roberta serves under the oversight of the Estes church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee. Roberta is one of the hardest working ladies I have ever met. Her dedication to the  children, the work and the Lord is an encouragement to all who know her.  I have had the privilege of working with Roberta for the past five years and count it an honor. In addition to her work in the home, she also directs a nutrition center that feeds 150 children two hot meals each  day. Between this and the home, approximately 400 meals are prepared daily. She does have some Haitian ladies who assist her but she is the one who oversees the work.

These are just two of the many works that are taking place in which Roberta is involved. When  medical, construction or teaching teams go to Haiti, Roberta is there to assist and help in any way she needed. Take a moment and say a prayer for Roberta, the Son Light Children’s Home and the many works that she is doing. As Roberta would say, “To God be all the glory”

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17

The preachers and elders conference has become a regular part of our work at the International School of  Theology. At least once per quarter we invite the preachers and elders to come and share in the study of God’s word. A representative from each congregation has the opportunity to give a field report, sharing the activities of the congregation. This is always a highlight of the conference because we hear of the many great works taking place. It is also a great time of fellowship between congregations. This is one element that had been missing in the past. The unity and love is growing among the Lord’s church in Haiti. More and more we see and hear of congregations joining efforts to reach the lost of Haiti. We had about 65 in attendance with several congregations represent. May God continue to work in the hearts and the lives of these men who truly seek to do His will. Several members from the Sycamore congregation in Cookeville, TN were able to be with us for the conference.

This group has made several trips to Haiti. They work at the children’s home, the Santo church and the Santo Christian school. We are thankful to have them as partners in the work. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Ephesians 4:11, 12

Distant Teaching - Becoming a Reality
We now have the equipment installed and expect to have the Internet issues worked out soon. We have mounted an outside antenna to give us the extra boost in power that ‘should’ allow us to make the connection.

When this final stage is completed, we will be able to teach classes from here in the USA. This will give us the opportunity to use some great Bible scholars who might not be able to travel to Haiti. This will also save a considerable amount of funds which can be diverted to other needs. We are so thankful for the individuals and congregation who have made this possible.

Your Help is Needed
Because of your kind donations, a large portion of the rent has been paid! Nicolas, our landlord has agreed to let us pay the monthly payments of $600 per month until the rent is paid in full. I must say, Nicolas has worked well with us and has helped every time we needed it. If repairs or modifications to the building were needed, all we had to do was asked and it was done. This being said, we still owe about $3,600 in rent.

Monthly Support
Why is monthly support needed? Like any school, there are needs that must be met. There are bills that have to be paid and supplies that must be purchased. Most of the students do not have jobs and those who do, do not make very much money. The majority of  the people in Haiti live on one or two dollars per day. Most of the Haitian people – including our students – only eat four or five times per week. A congregation of some 300 people may only have a contribution of $10. This is not because they don’t want to give, it is because they simply do not have it to give. So yes, I am asking you to give and help these men prepare to preach the gospel. It is the gospel message that can turn a nation around morally and financially. As I have stated before, we are not simply trying to change a few lives – we are trying to change a nation! We need your help to train the preachers and teachers at IST. We are asking congregations and individuals who are able, to contribute only $100 per month to help support our students. While the overall cost per student is about $300 we know this amount may be difficult for many. Please let us know if you have questions about any of the work we are doing. Please pray for our efforts.

Prayers Are Answered For Sean And Anita Hochdorf...

Perhaps you are like me in that when circumstances change for the worse I tend to almost wallow in the negative. I spend some time trying to talk myself into a positive attitude. After a few days of darkness and despair I usually make up my mind to look at all the options to determine how I am going to pull myself up by the bootstraps and fix whatever problem I am facing. I spend hour after hour deep in thought, strategizing, planning, exhausting, what I think, is every angle to solve my dilemma. Minor things are magnified and exaggerated. Without fail, when I pursue this course and leave God out of the equation, I always end up back in the mud pit of negativity more desperate than when I started.

I must confess that I found myself in this situation just a few weeks ago. Life was going great. Anita and I were living an incredible life, a dream life, doing exactly what we wanted; reaching the lost, edifying the brethren, and training preachers in Tanzania. Then, an unexpected neck injury changed things. “What are we going to do?” “How will we make it?” and a host of other questions were on my mind 24/7. Unlike times past, this time, finally, I decided to put my money where my mouth is and trust my Father to provide the answers to our concerns. I prayed that if there were anyway that we could continue to work with our brethren in Africa and/or elsewhere in the world that God would afford us the opportunity. When life is in a holding pattern minutes sometimes seem like years and weeks, well, you get the idea. As is always the case, God wasn’t on my time schedule and so, because we have an obligation to keep you informed, I reported to you of our circumstances and asked that you support us for 6 more months while we tried to figure out our future. The compassion and kindness with which you responded has been absolutely humbling.

Good news! Shortly after sending that last report Cy Stafford and the staff at Bear Valley Bible Institute asked me to consider being the coordinator for the ACSOP. “Are you kidding me?! Yes, yes, absolutely, YES!” Thank you Father! Indeed the solution the Lord has provided is better than anything I could have imagined. The Bear Valley staff is sensitive to my surgery needs and will allow me to carry a workload that keeps me busy, but doesn’t overdo it, while I recover. While we are super excited about this opportunity we need to ask the one thing we hoped we could avoid. Will you please continue supporting us in this work? We know the work is worthwhile and we feel certain from your dedicated loyalty to the Lord that you believe the work is worthwhile too. We simply can’t do it without you.

As supporters you have been fantastic and have greatly encouraged us in every part of the work the Lord is doing in Tanzania. We hope that we are able to report for many years to come the results of our team effort abroad; God, you, and us - an unbeatable force against the prince of this world.

We will continue to keep you posted. If you would, please offer a prayer of gratitude on our behalf since God has provided us a way to continue in His service. We don’t feel like we can tell Him thank you enough. Please know that we love each of you for your dedication to the cause of Christ.

Until next time, take care and God bless.

With deep appreciation,
Sean & Anita Hochdorf

Student Outreach Program Is A Success...

“Go therefore and make disciple of all nations…”Mathew 28:19 (NASB).

It has been a very busy month for the Lord. Our students at ACSOP have been engaging in the outreach program that was initiated by brother Cy Stafford a few weeks ago. About thirteen congregations in the area have been blessed with this good program. As farmers, we plow the field, plant the seed, and water the sprouts, etc. and only God grows the plants. Through this program our students have been able to visit, invite, help those who are in need, advertise, and we leave it all up to God who will put the increase in the church. Our attitude always is to encourage one another to be humble servants that God will “count us worthy” as we serve Him. “I planted, Apollo watered, but God gave the increase …..” 1 Corinthians 3:6.

In the past few weeks, through this outreach program five church members have been restored to the church. We have had three baptisms, 54 students have been enrolled in Bible correspondence courses, and 34 good Bible classes are going on. One very interesting story is that among those who have been baptized, one came from a Pentecostal church where he was a pastor. After a long and deep study with our students he was baptized in the middle of the night. Please let us continue praying for brother Peter Alley and others who have been baptized.

I would like to give thanks for your prayers and financial support to this wonderful work with the school.

In Him,

One Special Lectureship And Graduation...

Each year, ITL in Guatemala hosts their annual lectureship, and every other year, ITL’s graduation is coupled with this great event. This year they hosted the 6th Annual ITL Lectureship and ITL’s third graduation. The opportunity to participate in this event is always encouraging and exciting. Byron Benitez and Hawatthia Jones established the Theological Institute of Latin America (ITL) six years ago. Prior to its beginning, they developed a Saturday program that continues to operate concurrently. The Saturday program is a three-year plan of study that would be considered part-time. However, it requires a level of dedication on the part of students that is an example worth emulating for all Christians.

ITL’s two-year program of study is a full-time residential program that is open to students throughout Central and South America. The intensity of study for these students is equated to a four-year university level of training compressed into two years. The students work hard to complete the scheduled course work and participate in several evangelistic campaigns during this time. The history of the school indicates that 100% of the graduates from ITL are faithfully involved in strengthening the Lord’s church.

Four students completed their studies and graduated from the full-time program and 4 students completed their course work to graduate from the Saturday program. The graduation celebration began with the Presidential banquet Thursday evening, followed by an all day lectureship on Saturday, continuing through worship on Sunday morning, and then the actual graduation ceremony in the afternoon where graduates were honored. The exciting nature of this event was further marked by the announcement of the next class of students that will begin class in April.

This special occasion was capped off with three baptisms and one restoration between Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Words cannot fully describe the enthusiasm and encouragement of the weekend. The time is always packed with 14 hour days filled with activities, and one is nearly exhausted at the end, but the elated feeling of God’s providential working makes this time worth every minute. Please pray for these graduates as they enter the field, the staff of ITL as they continue training, and all who are involved in preparing workers for the kingdom. We also ask you to pray for Anibal Ramirez, one of the instructors at ITL. Anibal was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis A and C. He is on complete bed rest and taking medication. Remember him and his family as you pray each day.

Coupled with the graduation in Guatemala, students returned this week to Denver after their campaigns in Grand Cayman, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Oklahoma. We look forward to sharing reports of their work next week. As the reports indicate below, God continues to bless the work in other locations around the world where we are partnering with the greatest people on earth to grow the kingdom of our God.

Now on to this week’s incredible reports...

An Interesting Questions Creates An Interesting Thought...

It is my prayer and hope that this report will find you well and active in the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we all struggle to be Christ-like in this world, which was never promised that all things would be easy and smooth, then we all need to trust God in all things that we plan and do. For with Him all things are possible. And for sure we have seen Him doing greater things in His kingdom here and throughout this world we live.

Last Sunday, on the rotational Spiritual Discipline studies here in Arusha, things went very well. I was in Ilkiurei, which is a new congregation that is now about three years old. We had a very wonderful worship there; I taught about “Journaling for the Purpose of Godliness” in the Bible class, and completed the rest of it in the worship service.

After the Bible class I was asked an interesting question, “For those Christians who do not know how to write and read then how does this study of journaling for the purpose of godliness apply to them?”  It was really a tough question for me to answer because I didn’t ever expect to be asked such a question as I was preparing to teach and preach that topic. But I thought for a minute and said, “God will take care of them,” and I saw everybody in the church building laughing.

On the other hand, things here in ACSOP are going well as usual. Our first quarter of studies is getting to the end this week. I checked up with all the teachers, and it seems that we all completed our duties of teaching the studies that we were assigned to teach. Hereafter, there will be two short courses for the second year students and one for the first year, before we get into a second quarter. These short courses will start on Monday, March 20, and go through April 3, 2015. The second quarter will be April 6 - May 15, 2015.

Finally, we really do appreciate God for your great support for this great work which is being done here in East Africa through your financial support. We will always remember you in our prayers that these greater things you are doing for us will not be in vain, but our loving God may pay you back as per His will.

Teaching At Church, School, Businesses, And Homes...

Arusha Youth Seminars
This month I've been teaching the youth from the Arusha Church of Christ every Saturday afternoon. They wanted to be taught about the church so we've been focusing on some things that make the churches of Christ unique. They plan to study about various denominations in the coming months, and wanted to start with a good grounding in what the New Testament church is. We've borrowed a lot of thoughts from Dan Chambers' excellent book, "Churches in the Shape of Scripture." Check it out if you haven't read it yet, and you'll be blessed by it.

1st Quarter Comes to an End
At the Andrew Connally School of Preaching our first quarter has come to an end. One or two new students realized that they couldn't handle the workload in English, so they will try again to be a part of next year's Swahili class. We fully expect the remaining students to be very successful, and have a great tenure with us. The students will spend the next two weeks in short courses and campaign work, then the next regular quarter will resume.

Njiro Evangelism
Things are continuing to go well at the Njiro Chini congregation. In the pictures below you can see images from some of our recent door to door evangelism. We stop at homes and businesses alike in search of those who want to discuss the scriptures. The lady in the shop below asked us question after question in between serving customers. The housegirl in the bottom-right picture generously spent most of her lunch break with us. The top-right picture shows my cohorts walking in search of souls willing to be taught about Christ and His church. As you can see, all in all things are going well and we are busy about the Lord's work,  Mungu ni mwema! (God is good!)

One Baptism And Fifteen Prospects From Togo...

Yokele Campaign Produces One (1) Baptism And 15 Prospects
The Yokele Church of Christ is one of our newest congregations in the Kloto Region. The preacher, Koku Tulassi, is a graduate of CBS. Our February campaign was organized to introduce the congregation to the citizens of Yokele by open air preaching, house-to-house evangelism, tract distribution, and worship.

The personnel during the campaign included: 18 students, 14 preachers, and 11 members from congregations in the Kpalime area. Students are always part of these campaigns to afford them the opportunity to use the skills they have acquired in class. After all the activities, one lady was baptized and 15 visitors were at Church on Sunday. There will be a follow up campaign very soon.

Chariot’s Daily Visits To Villages
The Chariot has embarked daily visits to nearby villages to distribute tracts, preach, and study with individuals. We are taking advantage of the markets, gatherings, schools, and people on the streets. We even visited tailoring shop. We are being called by inhabitants of several villages to plant the church in their community. Brethren, we now have more than we can even handle.

“Pastor” Turns Over A Church To CBS Student.
Mawunyo came to CBS as a member of the “Good Shepherd Church.” He was baptized within a year at CBS. However, he continued to worship with the Good Shepherd church where he had opportunity to preach and teach in his congregation. As Mawunyo continued to share his new found faith, his pastor became uncomfortable with the teachings, while the members were enjoying the lessons. Some even decided to be baptized and give up denominationalism. They did away with their drums and started singing. The pastor became more uncomfortable. Recently, it became evident that he was loosing his grip on the “Good Shepherd Church.” Finally, the pastor made the decision to leave the church in the hands of Mawunyo. He has since left town. God is great! We are in the process of replacing the “Good Shepherd Church” sign board with that of Church of Christ. CBS is paying more attention to this new work.

Driver Leads A Soul To Christ
Atsu (Chariot driver) has not rested from sharing his new found faith since the day he was baptized. Atsu is always handing tracts to people he meets while driving in traffic. I admire his zeal to always let people know about the Church of Christ.

Esperance Taught Class
Esperance preaches for the Nukafo Church of Christ in Lome and has been on the staff of CBS since the inception of the school in 2005.

Kpalime Area Preachers Meet
Kpalime area preachers held at a meeting in Kpalime. This meeting convenes on the first Monday of each month between 3:00pm - 5:00pm. This particular meeting was to plan the forthcoming lectures in May under the theme “The One Another Experience.” Some of the topics include: Love one another, pray for one another, greet one another, and encourage one another. I am scheduled to speak on the topic “Encourage One Another.” The meeting also discussed the funeral of a sister who was a member of the Nyiveme Church of Christ. This cooperation among congregations in the area is a great source of encouragement to brethren and gives Christians a sense of belonging.

Meeting With CBS Students
The CBS students requested to meet with me while I was in Kpalime. The meeting was to discuss some pertinent issues concerning the welfare of students. Their spokesperson used the occasion to thank Gabriel Oaks for the continued support. The key issue had to do with their fate after graduation. I also officially informed them of their graduation on the 5th of September,2015.

Visit To Hanyigba Church of Christ
I had the opportunity to deliver the sermon during the worship after a CBS student taught the Bible class. A I sat in the class and listened to the student teach, I gave thanks to God for what he has done with these students in less than two years. I preached using one of the beatitudes: Blessed are the peace makers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Mathew 5:9

CBS Needs A Motor Bike
It has become essential for the preacher training school in Kpalime - CBS to secure a motor bike. This bike will be used by the students for their Sunday visits to congregations in the Kpalime area and other outreach activities. The school is presently spending too much for hiring a motor bike to conduct business in and around town. I am confident this will be a great asset for the school and the church. One such bike will cost $900.00, which includes the registration. Kindly, let me know if God has touched your heart to purchase a bike for the work in Kpalime, Togo.

GRADUATION! GRADUATION!! GRADUATION!!!

CBS graduation is scheduled for Saturday, September 5th 2015.

Two-Day Workshop For Preachers In Northern Regions Of Ghana...

Greetings from Tamale, Ghana to all who are in the vineyard.

The Institute has just resumed after a short break. Students and staff are all looking fine and ready for the quarter's activity. It is our prayer that the good Lord will offer us life and the needed strength to do his work.

During the holidays, the Institute embarked on a 2-Day Workshop for all the preachers in the three northern regions. Even though some preachers could not attend, participants came from all the regions. Therefore, there was a representation from the three regions. The total attendance was (56) fifty six.

The theme for the workshop was “Improving Evangelism and Edification in the Northern Sector Congregations.”

The objective for the workshop was to critically examine how evangelism and edification are done and to bring about improvements.

After an intensive examination of how evangelism is done, it was observed that congregations ignore towns and villages where there is no hope of getting someone to care for the newly baptized Christians.

This we all agreed was not in conformity of the Great Commission and resolved that henceforth, regardless of a known and trusted person we, shall preach to everyone everywhere.

On the part of edification of new congregations, all participants observed that currently, preachers in most parts of the sector take care of between (2) two and (6) six congregations. This we saw to be an inefficient and ineffective approach. To this we agreed to form groups of preachers and also establish centers in the various districts so that men selected from the congregations established would be given training as to how to lead their congregations.

The Institute was tasked to provide guidance and materials to bring about this improvement envisaged.

In all, the Institute and participants were happy of the resolutions made and prayed that the new ways of evangelizing and edifying, which has been accepted, will produce the needed improvement.

They also thanked brother Steven Ashcraft and brother Baah Joseph Okyere who were the resource persons for the excellent way they handled the activities of the workshop.

In another vein, the Board of Directors wishes to inform all loved ones in the Lord, that the Institute is having its Third Graduation Ceremony on the 02/07/2015 at the Institute's premises. We wish to invite all sponsors and fellow workers. Activities slated for the graduation includes naming the main lecture hall in honor of our beloved Sister Avril who died in the course of serving the Lord.

All who will want to attend this important ceremony should call 0 2330247300917 or send an email to joebaah2003@yahoo.co.uk for the necessary arrangements to receive and accommodate you to be put in place. Come and be part of this all important occasion.

Thank you very much
Baah Joseph Okyere

Cameroon Campaign Produces Fruit Of A Special Kind...

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings from your brothers and sisters here at BVBIC. Our name has changed from CBIW to the one you can see which is Bear Valley Bible Institute of Cameroon–Wotutu. The family is growing and we praise God for every positive change that is occurring in the family.

I am excited again to share with you what made news from this end. For the past two weeks the students of the Gamma batch were out for one week doing house-to-house evangelism in 22 villages and then transit them to their home for a one week vacation. Praise be to our God as I write that they made it back to the campus and the second quarter will continue after we return from another mass campaign this week.

God was with them and the result they made is great. To God all the glory goes. Their very first outing signifies they will do great things as God leads them.

The students made it to their different places of work safe and sound, but with lots of difficulties, because of the bad roads, so the transport I gave them was underestimated because of the nature of the roads. They were bound to trek to meet up with their assignments. Brother Valentine preached during the house-to-house and left tracts on every home as they passed by.

They are assigned to evangelize and also nurture existing congregations, as our students initiated children’s classes. We are eager to start teaching preachers’ wives in a short course that will help them marvelously to teach children who are the church of tomorrow, so we move along with all under our care.

Many congregations continue to appreciate our efforts through the sending of students to many areas. They said, “We thank you. We are ready to feed students as they work with us, but financially we are handicapped.” Words like this are touching, as you see people eager for someone who will help them know God and serve him, but most of the time they cannot afford to keep a preacher. I have realized that the best way to keep the church growing with soundness is to make sure every congregation has a preacher that will help.

Brother Abanda Edwin, in Nake village, did house-to-house evangelism and distributed tracts to every home. We are getting lots of positive response from this tract exercise, as many continue to gain knowledge from it. Our tracts open doors for prospects and later on leads to converts. God bless Mission Printing for their help and all those who made it possible for us to have the tracts in Cameroon.

Our students bear the risk of bending their waist down because there is no seat where people are ready to receive the word. Brother Mendi Simon stayed in any posture to make sure he transplanted the truth to a soul.

Brother Valentine baptized a soul. Keep praying for him as he plans to move his wife from the village to Wotutu, so that she will learn part-time before they graduate and be in the field full-time.

Brother Mendi Simon baptized a soul. This first campaign made the following results:

Number of baptisms: 35
Number of restorations: 26
Number of new congregation: 1 (Ngwandi church of Christ)

Keep praying for the work here. We know the one that wins soul is wise. The field is ripe and we are doing our best to prepare workers to go, as they think souls, so that they may rob some from the strong man’s house.

Plans
1) These 23 students we depart Wotutu to Lebialem for a 5 day mass evangelism campaign. This involves many in Cameroon, but we want to make an impact, as all our graduates will travel with us to do this job.

2) We will need to send students weekly to this newly established congregation.

3) Bibles are in needed now both for converts and others.

Prayer Request
Please pray for some students who came back with sickness because of may be bad water and food in their own locations..

Pray for our trip to Lebialem which is a long trip from Wotutu village.

Appreciations
Many, many thanks to God for all He did for us, His protection over us and the students. We thank God for you, as you continue to stand with us to make things happen. God will bless you and keep you strong. Share our report with someone who may love to know more about us.

Our students ended their first campaign after the first quarter of long courses. That is why I also followed some of them to their locations to be part of their work.

God bless you. We thank you for all that you are doing for the cross in Cameroon. Keep it up and do not faint, so that you will receive your reward in due season.

The one that wins souls is wise.

"The Gospel Must Go Where Motorcycles Cannot Go"

Dearest in Christ,

Greetings to you all in Jesus name. I am sure you are doing great. We are doing better after a long and tedious journey. I am back home even though I am still not very strong.

Our students ended their first campaign after the first quarter of long courses. That is why I also followed some of them to their locations to be part of their work.

Let me share with you some pictures of my recent evangelistic trip to Akwaya sub- division, which is one of those divisions that have been  abandoned by the government of Cameroon in some or all domains  like roads, education, and health care.

It is always my joy to see our students growing from one level to another. This is our beta batch graduate, evangelist Thierry Ngoue. Brother Thierry got married to sister Alpha Tabeson last week. It was great for me to be part of it.

This is me crossing fast running streams in Akwaya. The gospel can take you to many kinds of places.  As we bear risks in some places, all we can do is to sing a song like “COURAGE BROTHER DO NOT STUMBLE” or “ ANYWHERE WITH JESUS I CAN SAFELY GO.” It was not easy to take the gospel to areas where even a motorcycle cannot take you to. You must go some places on foot, climbing, descending and crossing rivers .

Our passion is sharing the gospel and leaving behind a tract that will push our prospect to go back and read. Many do so. The tracts from Mission Printing have gone to the hinterlands of Cameroon and they are making a great impact.

We are standing where the church of Christ in Assaka meets for worship. It is not easy for this congregation to meet during rainy season as they are in need of iron sheets for the roof.

The area is always suffering from strong wind. This is the house that accommodated me for one night. The preacher’s house collapsed by the strong wind with us inside. This, the preacher, his wife, myself, and their 5 children ,were down in there when it collapsed. Thankfully no one sustained serious injuries. Please, as I write this mail, this preacher and his family are homeless. .A good neighbor of theirs helped out, but the preacher and his family cannot stay with the neighbor permanently. They are in need of help.

As we moved around the village to evangelize, we realized that many children don’t have means to go to school because they are orphans or were abandoned by relatives who can no longer help them  because they cannot help themselves .It is very sad to me. My heart goes out for these children and the communities.

Sister Delphine Agia obeyed the gospel in Badoum village. She was happy to know Christ. She asked many questions about polygamy. It was the talk of the day there. Different villages have different things that the gospel calls them out of. For many in this village, it will be polygamy. There was  much talk about polygamy in the village today.

This pa is the one that uses the drum in front of him to send information from one village to another, because there are no network services for mobile phones .

Children here go to farms and have no access to an education. Because of this,  early marriages are common to most young girls .

p9.jpg

This little girl is call Reginal. She has already been married for one year. Her future is blare because no one is ready to help her out of the situation of early marriage .It was a thing that caused me to shed tears. I never thought that this type of practice was still going on in Cameroon ,.

p10.jpg

This is brother Christopher, who at the age of 78 obeyed the gospel. Keep him in your prayers. He has a very large family who will surely love to study with us since their father obeyed the message of Christ.

p11.jpg

A total of 7 precious souls were added to the church in Badoum and Ayimelnike which are both in the Akwaya sub-division. We still have a long way to go, as there are over 90 total villages there.  .

p13.jpg

I am happy to include this picture because of the story attached to it. You can see me using a mega phone to preach. We rented it from a denominational pastor who was in the audience listening to my preaching as well. But, after I had gone far in my message, he got up and ceased the mic from my hands and declared  that I should not speak about the role of women in the church any longer. He did this because he has ordained women to be elders and to do many other things which are in error.

    PLANS

We shall have a mass campaign in Lebialem. It shall be called “Lebialem for Christ.” Both current students and graduates of CBIW will be part of it. Lebialem is a great distance Wotutu.

    APPRECIATIONS

God bless you. We thank you for all that you are doing for the cross in Cameroon. Keep it up and do not faint, so that you will receive your reward in due season.

Dear Brethren,

We salute all of the good brothers and sisters in Christ who have a part in the evangelism efforts of Mission Printing. Campaigns, Conversions, And Graduations...

Students on the Denver campus are gone this week in campaigns throughout the U.S. and one group traveled to Grand Cayman to work with one of Bear Valley’s graduates, Daniel Mayfield. The work Daniel and his wife, Miranda, do with the church on Grand Cayman is encouraging. The field is open for door-to-door evangelism and we pray God will give the increase to their efforts in reaching out with the gospel. We pray the outreach in Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Missouri will experience the same growth.

The outreach of students at various locations in the extension program continues to bear fruit also. The reports indicate a number of souls added to the kingdom this week. We are encouraged with God’s activity in giving the increase. While reading through the reports, notice how God is working through these men who are dedicated to share the gospel with those in need of a Savior, Jesus our Lord.

Several schools are preparing for graduation over the next few months. ITL in Guatemala will graduate their third class of students next Sunday. The West Coast School of Preaching in Takoradi, Ghana will graduate their next class in April, along with the Visakha Valley Bible College in India. Others will host graduations soon and several schools will begin a new class of students. Pray for the graduates and those about to begin their journey.

Now on to this week’s incredible reports...

Presenting the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Cameroon

The Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ

“Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel.”

Mark 16:15-16

pp2.jpg

Do you believe that God is the creator of heaven and earth?

Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God?

Do you believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and that it is truth?

What does the word “gospel” mean?

Before I ask you what the good news is, I want you to tell me what the bad news is.

Please Pray On Behalf Of Several With The TZ2000 Team...

Greetings Fellow Servants,

We thank you for your prayers and participation in the work of God where you serve and where you support. God is able, willing, and doing a great ministry in Tanzania and throughout East Africa and for your partnership in this we thank Him and we thank you.

The last week has been a blessing in many ways. My travels brought me to TN, AL, and TX. I have been blessed by many brothers and sisters in Christ in so many ways. It was so good to be with the church in Longview, Keller, and Seagoville, TX. I was saddened not to be able to make my appointment at College Station where our good brother John Hall ministers due to a family emergency.

While leaving Ft. Worth for College Station last Friday, I received a phone call that my dad was admitted to the hospital and was to have emergency surgery. It has been a roller coaster ride for the last few days, very much touch and go. The great news is the surgery to open up a completely blocked cardiac artery has been successful and if all continues as is, my dad (Claude Stafford) should leave ICU today and move to a regular room. For all your prayers, we say thank you and to our God we say thank you for answered prayers.

The news from Tanzania continues to be good, God is doing so much. Gasper Julius writes: ”Hello brother, we thank God again this Sunday as I received a good report from the Ngorongoro congregation that one brother has obeyed the gospel. Please pray for this new congregation and this new brother in Christ. Yours in the Lord, Gasper

The news from the Andrew Connally School continues to be good with thirteen first year students and fifteen second year students actively engaging in their course work. The evangelistic outreach program is fully underway; each student connected and serving with one of the eleven areawide congregations. They go each week doing personal Bible studies and serve where asked during the Bible class and worship hour on Sunday. GOOD NEWS: We now only lack $4,500 to secure the needed funds to purchase a school van to escort the men on their evangelistic work. The van will also take these men along with ACSOP staff to their home congregations during the breaks conducting gospel meetings. Another blessing with be the transport it will provide for our many short term workers when in country doing God’s will and work.

We solicit your prayers on behalf of Sean and Anita Hochdorf. Anita had a procedure to hopefully relieve her of some of her back pain. Sean is in need a neck surgery as well. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Sean at: shochdorf@wetrainpreachers.com

Also, please remember our good brothers Cotton Box and Gene Davis as they struggle with some very serious health issues. We know our God is able and we know His will, will be done.

Thank you all for you prayers and support of God’s mission efforts where you are, in TZ, and throughout the world. When our God is glorified in what we do, really good things happen. It is our hope and prayer that our God blesses you all with a great week of service in His Kingdom this week to the saving of some lost soul.

In Him,
Cy, Stephanie & Granny

Students, Chicken Coop, Farming, And Translation Team Add Up...

I hope this finds you safe and sound, as you travel from one place to another and share good news for the Kingdom’s sake. Back here we are fine. The following is the short report for this week.

Students
We had 13 students in the first year class. We lost one this week, he was not able to keep up with the school. He has written a letter asking if he can come back next year in the Swahili class. Alex Sadat also went back home because he has taken all the classes which are being taught in this quarter. He will be back in October so that he can take the book of Revelation which he did not take.

Students have started going out on our weekly evangelism.

Chicken coop
We were able to finish the construction of the coop for the layers of which we have already both the layers. This month we have also been able to cut down meat expenses by not buying any beef. That has reduced almost 200,000/- in our budget.

Farming
We have planted corn over the last two weeks since we were expecting the rain that time, but it did not rain. The seeds have been burnt by the sun. The weather shows that we might have some good rain in the next few coming days, therefore we have bought new seeds and are planting them these two days.

Translation Team
The translation team is still busy as usual. We have been able to finish the book of Ephesians, 1 & 2 Chronicles, 1 & 2 Kings, and Christian Growth (52 week’s lessons). All these are ready and saved on my hard drive.

The Team’s priority list is as follows:

1. Finishing up with the Spiritual Discipline outlines (ready by March 30th)

2. Translating 5 lessons as recommended by you from our brother Rudy (Back to the Bible)

Charles will be translating the introduction lesson and Lesson 1

Michael will be translating Lessons 4 & 5

Godfrey will be translating Lessons 2 & 3

These lessons should be ready by April the 5th, proofed, and saved on my hard drive.

3. Since next quarter the Swahili class will be studying from the book of 1 & 2 Corinthians we are also working on 1 Corinthians.

Charles will be translating the Introduction through chapter 4

Michael will be translating chapters 5-10

Godfrey will be translating chapters 11-16

This book should be ready, translated, proofed, and saved by April 11th.

We are still facing some hardship using our Macbook since we do not have the office program.

In the past, we also requested some dictionaries, which will help the team to be more effective.

Mkunde has been doing a great work, but she is not in our budget. She just finished her work this week and my plan was to tell her to stop working until you come back since we do not have anything to pay her. I have asked Ahimidiwe to give her 200,000/- from the school’s budget for this time until we hear from you. Before you left, we discussed about her and you said you will include her pay on the translation team while the translation team article is not seen in the school’s draw.

These are just a few for this week. Thank you for all that you do in the Lord’s Vineyard.

Your servant in Him,
Charles
