BVBI in Tamale, Ghana, plans for Seminars

BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES, TAMALE - GHANA

JUNE 2025 OPERATING REPORT

God’s name is to be praised for all the good things we experienced in the month of June 2025. Like the Psalmist said in Psalm 124:2-4; “if it had not been the LORD who was on our side when people rose up against us, then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us; then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;..” The Lord indeed has been on our side as an Institute that stands for the values of Christ Jesus in all things that have happened, are happening, and are expected to happen in the future. All things are working together for our good.

We wish to report some of the events that have taken place in the month of June, 2025.

STUDENTS

Students are on break throughout the month of June. This break is very crucial and strategically meant to give them the opportunity to do their farming activities. As may be known to many of you, Northern Ghana is a hugely farming-dominated area, and many of our preachers and students use farming to aid themselves as they work for our Lord Jesus. We are expecting them back on 13th July, 2025.

VISITATION

Brother James Legend took the opportunity of the absence of academic activities to embark on ten days visitation to some congregations, preachers and students across Northern Ghana. This visitation was meant to create the needed bond between the Institute and brethren across Northern Ghana. It was also important in that it created an avenue for future recruitment efforts. This visitation was also necessary, and is needed as it helps identify what we need as a school to address some of the needs of congregations, preachers, and leaders, which will in turn help make the church stronger in Northern Ghana.

It was observed that there is a need for the school to organize seminars from time to time in some selected centers or areas to do vigorous teachings on topics like leadership, marriage, and Christian living. If it is also possible, the school needs to assist some of the leaders in some of the congregations where leaders can read with subsidized Bibles to aid their studies. One issue was also communion wine. If we could provide subsidized wine to some locations across Northern Ghana, that would be great. Some congregations take the Lord's Supper as and when it is available. If we could do something positive about it, that would be great. We really need to make visitation a regular tool in our activities. It helps us appreciate and know the real situations on the ground, and also bridge the gap between the school and the congregations.

An anonymous person who wishes his identity not be disclosed donated some 26 Konkomba Bibles to the leaders being trained at Zabzubu area. The Bibles were distributed on this visitation journey made by Brother James. We praise God as they were very excited about this blessing.

SCHOOL GARDEN

All forms of creative efforts are being made strongly with the produce from the school garden to complement the feeding of our students. We planted cassava last year and this year in some portions of the garden, where some are ready and have been harvested in the month of June, 2025. We used some to fry gari, and make cassava dough to support the efforts of the students’ feeding.

SCHOOL FARM

We started a farming project this year with the support of Brother Steven, to aid the Lord’s work in Northern Ghana and possibly Ghana as a whole in the future. We acquired a parcel of land in Tatale district, where we are cultivating rice, with the hope for good rains. We cultivated these lands in three batches. We did so because we considered the harvesting time. In order for us not to be under pressure during the time of harvest, we decided to do them in one week intervals. We pray God’s blessings upon our efforts. We also wish to thank Brother Steven and his wife and all who are doing their best to live a brighter future for God's Kingdom and work in Northern Ghana, Ghana, and the world at large.

God bless you.

Thank you,

James Legend

Perseverance in Ghana

BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE, NSAWAM, GHANA

SECOND QUARTER REPORT, 2025

Introduction

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. The following were our activities for the second quarter of 2025.

Classroom Activities

There were three courses offered this quarter: World Religions, Bible Geography, andDenominational Doctrines. Brother Samuel Ntim Sasu taught all three classes.

Impact on Congregations

Our students continue to teach and preach in their local congregations, making a significant impact. The praise we hear about our current students reflects the sound teaching they receive from our instructors. May this continue long into the future.

Funeral Activities

In the report from the previous quarter, we mentioned attending the burial service of our student, William Danso. As is common in a world filled with sin, we regret to report two more deaths. First, our alumnus, Hayford Kumah-Mensah, who died of bone cancer at age 41. Brother Hayford is survived by a wife and three children. His funeral service is scheduled from Friday, July 18, to Sunday, July 20. Second, our instructor, Emmanuel Yaw Amoo-Gyimah. Amoo Gyimah taught the class on Marriage & Family Life last quarter. Little did we know that would be the last class he would teach at our extension school. We find comfort in the hope that these brethren have gone home to be with the Lord, which is far better (Php 1:23). May the Lord be with them until we meet again.

Student Profile

Isaac Ahadzi is the student we are focusing on for this quarter. He was baptized on January 11, 2015, at the Lomnava Church of Christ and is currently a member of the congregation that meets in Nsumia. His commitment to the cause of Christ is evident because he serves as a Bible teacher for a ministry that regularly visits Nsawam Prisons to worship with the inmates. Besides his ministry work, he works as a quantity surveyor and an architect. He is also one of the student leaders in the group. He shared this about the school: “I am very happy to be a student in this school because the instructors take their time when teaching the Bible and allow the students to ask questions. One thing I love about the school is that all the courses are biblical and in line with what we see in the Bible.”

Conclusion

We appreciate Bear Valley’s assistance during this quarter. We pray for God’s blessings in this matter. And brethren, please keep praying for us.

MAY 2025 OPERATING REPORT

The month of May was a blessed month for us by the special grace of God. We had a very peaceful and inspiring month with some positive events taking place. It is our pleasure to report what took place as duty demands.

STUDENTS

As reported in the month of April of the departure of the students to their various homes for some three weeks break, we are excited to report that all of them are back to school with one additional new student on the 27th of April, 2025. They are however back for a short term stay in school as the rains have started pouring. We scheduled for them to stay in school for only four weeks, and go back home to do their farm work. They will however be staying much longer when they are back as scheduled for us to meet our academic calendar.

ACADEMIC

Academic work started immediately when the students resumed school. They reported to school on the 27th of May which was a Sunday, and classes started on the 28th of May. As stated, four courses were taught in the month of May. They include: Homiletics 1 (Isaac Akumoliga), Godhead (James Legend), Christian Evidences (Adjei Mensah) and Old Testament 1 (Dickson Anonzah). After these courses, they went back for holidays to work on their farms. We give God the glory.

SCHOOL GARDEN

Our vegetables and peanuts are growing very steadily in the school garden. We are getting some very good vegetables to support the feeding of the students. It is our hope that the rainy pattern becomes favorable this year for us to have a good harvest. This will go a long way to aid the feeding of our students.

RICE FARM: Brother Collins has gone to the Zabzugu Tatale area where he acquired 60 acres of land to farm rice to support the Lord’s work in Northern Ghana. Brother James will join him with the rice seeds for sowing to take place. We pray for God’s help for good rains and stewardship for us to obtain a good success.

KPALSI SOUTH CHURCH

On the 11th of May 2025, the local congregation in Kpalsi South made a benevolent donation to all the women in the church for being good mothers in the church. Many of them were very excited as this donation of soap brought relief to them.

HEALING HANDS INTERNATIONAL VISITATION TO SCHOOL

A five member team of Healing Hands International visited the school on the 25th of May, 2025. They came to see how productive the Borehole drilled for us some years ago is functioning. They came to see how we are implementing the drip irrigation system that taught us in 2019. They were very satisfied and happy with what they saw. We hope and pray for partnerships in this direction in the near future.

God bless you.

Thank you,

James Legend.

Students in Takoradi, Ghana work to grow a local church

OPERATIONAL REPORT APRIL 2025

1.     CLASSROOM WORK

Praise be to the name of our God and the Lord Jesus for the mercies upon our lives. We started a new academic year in the first month of 2025, and by the grace of God, we have successfully come to the end of the term. All the courses assigned to be studied in the first term were successfully completed. These courses were: Life of Christ 1 (by Nathaniel Brobbey), Old Testament 1 (by Nathaniel Brobbey), Hermeneutics 1 (by Joshua Aidoo), Homiletics 1 (by Joshua Aidoo), Christian Evidences and writing skills (by Douglas Armah).

Examination was written at the end of the term. The term was concluded with short courses which were taught by Samuel Owusu–Afari. These courses were on personal evangelism and the book of James.

Weekend classes for the part–time students went on smoothly in the month. As usual, they report to campus on Fridays where classes begin at 6:30 p.m. GMT and end on Saturdays at 4:00p.m. Three instructors teach every weekend. The first class is from 6:30p.m to 9: 00 p.m. (by Joshua Aidoo). On Saturdays, two classes are held from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (by Douglas Armah) and from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. (by Nathaniel Brobbey).

In the month of April, students continued their studies on Hermeneutics 1, Christian Evidences and Old Testament 1 (first five books).

2.     PERSONAL EVANGELISM AND BAPTISM

Evangelism continued throughout the month but the highlight of evangelism for the month was the campaign for Christ which was organized by the school at the beginning of the month. The school received an invitation to help evangelize a community which has a weak congregation in it. The church has been in the town for years but it has been stagnant in growth and needed help in strengthening it. The school gladly welcomed the invitation and on Monday 31st March set out from Takoradi to Nzema Twenen for the evangelism. Hearing about the hardness of the “soil” of the land, we decided to go fully prepared. The program was well attended by the current students, invited past students and preachers in the Nzema area. Many people got to hear the truth in God’s word and seven (7) souls were added by the Lord to His church.

Students and Staff in Accra, Ghana Celebrate a Fruitful Month

Bear Valley Bible Institute - Accra

       Monthly Report - April, 2025

Overview

As we begin the second quarter, we reflect on our initiatives and activities at the Bear Valley Bible Institute (BVBI). April has been a month of growth, outreach, and preparation as we look forward to the new semester schedules.

Evangelism and church strengthening

This quarter begun with an evangelism outreach at Gomoa Dasum in the Central Region of Ghana. This initiative aimed to strengthen the local church community and spread the message of hope and faith among the residents. The outreach was met with enthusiasm and openness from the residents of Gomoa Dasum. Many expressed gratitude for the visit and showed interest in learning more about the teachings of Christianity. Several individuals committed to attending local church services, indicating a positive response to the evangelistic efforts; as a result, two baptisms were recorded.

Classroom Activities

This semester was marked by nine significant courses which specifically in this month started with communication skills as short course by Gorge Osafo.

The following week proceeded with the normal class sessions where Bro. Amoo-Gyimah is teaching the book of Romans on Mondays, John Acquah is teaching 1 &2 Peter on Tuesdays. E. O. Larbi is teaching Christian Leadership and Minor prophets on Wednesdays and Thursdays precisely, while Samuel Papa Woode is teaching Greek on Fridays.

 Radio Program

Our radio program continues to be a vital outreach tool for BVBI, allowing us to connect with the community and share the Gospel.

Weekly Broadcasts: Our topic for the month is still on the church of the Bible, specifically on the New Testament Worship. The church of the Bible has been selected again for the month of April because listeners are asking many questions.

Audience Engagement: We saw an increase in listener interactions, with many reaching out via phone calls and social media to share how the program has impacted their lives.

Thursday’s market preaching at Amasaman Market

Since the beginning of 2025, the staff, in collaboration with the student body, is increasing its evangelistic effort to reach the lost. Amasaman market is a vital place and was selected to share the Gospel with traders every Thursday, which is also making a great impact.

Campaign for New Students:

As some of the students will be completing their course by the end of the year, the school is campaigning massively for new students. As a result had added 2 students, making in total 13 students

Conclusion

April 2025 has been a fruitful month for the Bear Valley Bible Institute, with successful outreach initiatives and preparations for the new semester. We are excited about the impact of our radio program, the progress made in response to our campaign for new students. As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of equipping leaders for service in the Kingdom of God.

We also remain grateful to our partners, alumni, and friends’ prayers, encouragement and financial contributions

In the name of Jesus Christ we greet you all as you endeavor to serve with earnest to save souis. The Lord has been good to us, we determine to promote His kingdom on earth. JIRAPA TRAINING SCHOOL started in October 2024 with about twenty (20) students. The students were successfully taught the first Epistle to the Corinthians and that ended the year 2024. Lessons resumed in January 2025. The students were lectured on HERMENEUTICS, a component that the students really appreciated very much when it comes to the interpretation of the scriptures. For the field time, the students need to know tools to understand the Bible. The second component that the students were lectured on is Homiletics 1. They are just left with one week to finish this component too.

Students in class

The students participated in a Regional Lectureship at Wa, organized by the Preachers for the leaders in all the churches within the entire Region in order to strengthen them.

About eight Preachers took turns in strengthening the leaders through various lessons under the theme "Practical Christianity Demonstrates Itself in ...." The class was highly interactive to the extent that teachers couldn't address all the questions of the participants due to factor. The participants asked for two days instead of the usual one for the meeting so that teachers can address their concerns more adequately.

BVBI in Cape Coast, Ghana, Completes Three Years of Schooling

BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE, CAPE COAST

REPORT FOR FOURTH QUARTER OF THE YEAR

MARCH 2025

PREAMBLE

The Bear Valley School in Cape Coast has finally completed three years of academic work as at the end of last year. As we began the year, we had our eyes firmly set on the completion of our programme of studies for the first cohorts of students.

Faculty members and students alike have been working really hard to make sure we make the deadline of completing our studies by the end of the year, in fact, the students are already dreaming of continuing with the first degree right after they obtain their diplomas.

It is also refreshing to note that by dint of hard work and perseverance the school has managed to grow through from its initial setbacks of limited resources and enrolment and is now brooding and flourishing with much attraction.  We praise and thank God for helping and guiding us to achieving such a wonderful feat. We are also grateful to our benefactors who are constantly and expeditiously responding to our needs. God bless them indeed.

OVERVIEW

As stated in earlier reports, the Cape Coast Study Center is arguably the fastest growing of the Bear Valley schools in Ghana. Our numbers currently stand at 36. Two students joined our ranks in the beginning of the year after we did a lot of campaigns and ran some adverts on the local radio stations. It is our hope that more students will be joining our ranks for deliberate and effective biblical studies.

It is with much admiration and pride that I say here and again, that the school has gained a notoriety with very sound Christian doctrine at the heart of everything we do here.

We also hope to graduate the first batch of about 12 students by the end of the second quarter of the year. These students have finished up with almost all of their course work and are currently trying to complete a few ones they have not taken yet.

Lecturers from other Church of Christ Bible schools have also expressed various interest in our school and their documentations are currently under review for onward approval from our coordinators.

The improvement in our students’ work rate, participation and output in their various congregations is a testimony to the good works we are putting in here as we keep attracting interest and attention of the people of the central region. Brethren from all around the region keep calling to make inquiries about our programs and activities.

COURSES

As at the end of the March 2025, we have successfully completed 38 courses from our course outline and syllabus. We have also entered 36 of those courses successfully in our data system which forms part of the students’ academic records.

In this first quarter of the year, we were able to complete these courses: INTERTESTAMENTAL PERIOD, CHRISTIAN ETHICS AND THE MAJOR PROPHETS. We hope to continue with studies in: THE WISDOM BOOKS, CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP AND THE MINOR PROPHETS in the second quarter of the year.

ATTENDANCE OF BIBLE LECTURESHIP PROGRAM

The school was invited to attend a Bible Lectureship program during the month of March. Students at this program wowed attendees as they espoused sound Biblical knowledge on a lot of the issues being discussed at the program.

It also afforded students the opportunity to market themselves to all the churches that were in attendance. Some of them had invitations to visit some the congregations that came for the program. We hope to keep using such opportunities to learn anytime the chance comes.

Successful Evangelistic Outreach in Accra, Ghana

Overview

March was a productive month for the southern institute of Biblical studies, marked by two significant short courses, Radio preaching, House-House evangelism visitation, staff meeting. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing our academic offerings and expanding our student body.

1. Staff Meeting

The staff convened for a meeting to discuss ongoing projects, aftermath of the 7th graduation and the 8th matriculation ceremony, and address any administrative matters. The meeting fostered collaboration among faculty members and provided a platform for sharing insights on improving student engagement and learning outcomes.

2. Top Radio Preaching

Every Tuesday, the Bear Valley Bible Institute has been actively involved in a preaching program on the "Church of the Bible" radio show. This initiative has provided an excellent opportunity for faculty and students to reach a broader audience, sharing the teachings of the Bible and promoting the mission of the institute. Feedback from listeners has been encouraging, with many expressing appreciation for the insights shared.

3. Class Activities

Research and Writing

Class activities led by George Osafo have focused on enhancing students' research and writing skills. Students engaged in various projects that encouraged critical thinking and effective communication of biblical concepts. The sessions included peer reviews, and presentations that aimed to equip students with essential skills for ministry and academic pursuits.

Marriage Life

E.O. Larbi conducted an engaging series on marriage life, where students explored biblical principles of marriage and family dynamics. The discussions emphasized the importance of strong, faith-based relationships and provided practical advice for students preparing for marriage and they can assist the married and the unmarried to have a harmonious relationship and a peaceful home.

4. One Week Evangelism

From 17th to 23rd March, the institute organized a one-week evangelistic campaign in the Paanor area within the Greater Accra South Municipality. The outreach included visits to various communities, such as Obise, Akutuase, Alafia, Amuzu Village, and Paanor township. The team engaged in door-to-door evangelism, community gatherings, and Bible studies, resulting in fruitful discussions and conversions.

Outcomes of the Evangelism Campaign:

The evangelism campaign yielded significant results:

Baptism: One individual was baptized, marking a new commitment to faith.

Restoration: One brother was restored to the fellowship, demonstrating the impact of the outreach and the importance of community support in spiritual growth.

Planned visitation and church strengthening

Looking ahead, we have several planned visitation initiatives to strengthen our community ties and outreach efforts:

Scheduled Visits: we visited the Oklu- Nkwanta congregation in Kasoa of the Awutu East Municipality on 9th March. The church service ended at 11:45, with total attendance of 24 members including children.

Our presence motivated them, and as a result, increased church attendance. This is being done to strengthen and edify the local congregations established by the school to grow and assist in evangelism.

Conclusion

March was a fruitful month for the Bear Valley Bible Institute, marked by collaborative efforts in staff meetings, impactful preaching, and meaningful class activities. The evangelistic outreach successfully reached several communities, fostering spiritual growth and community engagement. We look forward to building on these successes in the coming months.

We remain grateful to our partners, alumni, and friends’ prayers and encouragement.

May the Lord bless our endeavors as we strive to fulfill our mission.

Eighth Graduation Celebrated in Tamale, Ghana

BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES, TAMALE - GHANA

FEBRUARY 2025 OPERATING REPORT

The Lord is with us, and we are determined to do greater things with His empowerment. The Lord Jesus is indeed guiding us steadily this year to greater heights considering the direction we are moving by far. Into the second month of the year 2025 (February), we are feeling very positive considering the resumption of the 2025/2026 batch of students, and the improvement of steps towards discipline in the school, as well as the level of order instilled in the school so far. We pray for His strength and grace to remain focused and consistent positively as we press forward.

RESUMPTION OF STUDENTS AND ACADEMIC WORK

The 2025/2026 academic year began on the 10th of February, 2025. At the end of our recruitment process for a lengthy period of time, 38 forms were taken by potential students. Out of which 21 of them turned in for interview and entrance examination. Out of these 21, 16 of them qualified for enrollment into the institute. 9 of them reported to school on the 10th of February, 2025. 2 more reported on the 13th and the 14th of February, respectively. We still expect about four more students to join this batch of students.

Lectures began successfully on the 10th of February, 2025, with Brother Daniel Adjei Mensah teaching the Scheme of Redemption. Other courses taught in the month of February were; Hermeneutics one by Brother James Legend, and the New Testament Church by Brother Adjei. To God be glory, great things He has done; for all things are moving on perfectly.

8TH GRADUATION AND 9TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

One of the wonderful events and experience in the month of February was the graduation of the 2023/2024 batch of students. The Lord’s vineyard needs lots of workers, and it’s always joyful to witness men prepared and ready to take up the duty of working for our Lord Jesus. It was a precious moment to see brethren pledged to work for our Master (preach the word) at all times and under any condition. This event took place on the 19th of February, 2025. It is our prayer that these men indeed remain faithful to our God, in all their endeavors at every given moment, especially in the service of laboring for our Lord, by working to help expand the Lord’s kingdom.

In all, 10 brothers were graduated successfully. There were series of awards to motivate those who did their best during their time in school, both academically and character as well. Brother Dickson Anonzah was the best student academic, whiles the overall best student award went to Brother Paul Mpakba. The most well behaved student award went to Fredrick Laar Mon, while Brother Joshua Fooki took the best most servants’ award.  It was a very simple and beautiful event.

The welcome or opening address was done by Brother Daniel Adjei Mensah. He recounted some of the events that predate the inception of the school. He also enumerated some of the great benefits the school has brought to Northern Ghana. The time, the money, suffering in time past one had to go through travelling to Southern Ghana to attend a Bible school, that Bear Valley Tamale came and saved countless number of people from. The benefits are immeasurable. Currently, across the breadth and length of Northern Ghana, about 90% of the preachers that are working effectively, are trained by Bear Valley Tamale Campus. We give God the glory.

Our beloved Brother, and Coordinator for Bear Valley Schools in West Africa and beyond, Brother Steven Ashcraft was also present at the event. He delivered the charge to the graduands. Brother Steven introduced his message by acknowledging the efforts of all the men that were present at the event and their importance and contributions towards the vision that was conceived several years ago which has now become a great reality. With many lively words, he did encourage and empowered all the gathering, especially preachers present and the graduates on the work of the Lord and our calling.

The ordination and matriculation ceremonies were done by Brother Kojo Acquah Beenyi, the coordinator of Bear Valley Schools in Ghana. Thomas Donzie was the guest speaker.

Students from the newly established weekend school in Jirapa in the Upper West Region were also present and were matriculated together with the Tamale students. We thank God for this wonderful program that gave us a lot of encouragement.

While Brother Steven and Kojo were there for a very short time, they managed to held series of meetings centered at encouraging the staff and addressing issues that could lead to the progress of the school.

The students also donated 8 plastic chairs to the school, to show their gratitude.

In addition, there was also another impactful activity that took place. Five new motor Bikes we purchased to aid working evangelists who are doing their best towards the lost souls. Glory is to God for the life of Brother Steven and all the able brethren who care for the souls in Africa and the world, and their desire and willingness to aid workers in God’s kingdom. Brethren who received these motor were; Albert Tamanja Malir, Samuel Lamoja, Jacob Awintoya, Waja Francis and Bambile Abraham. May the good Lord bless all those who made this possible.

WITHIN AND OUTSIDE WORK ON COMPOUND CONTINUES

We have made it a point to continue day in and out to be consistent in seeing to the effective upgrading of our school environment. The front view of our institute is very clean, and we have also erected a sign post outlining all the different things (programs or activities) being run by the school. It is our desire to work hard to make Bear Valley Tamale stand out from the crowd, both in physical appearance and in maintaining the true doctrine of Christ. We know with time, we will become one of the best, if not the best, in many things. May God help us through.

IRRIGATION WORK

We now have some local vegetables to supplement the feeding efforts of our students on campus. We thank Healing hands and our sponsors for supporting us with water that we are able to raise vegetables at this time of the year in Tamale. Currently, water is one of the most scares commodities in Northern Ghana, especially, Tamale Township. Our neighbors continue to thank God for the water we extended outside freely for their consumption.

All the praises is to the Lord.

God bless you,

James.

Accra East celebrates graduation in Ghana

Accra East First Quarter Report- 2025

Peter Arhinful-Quansah
Director, Accra East Campus

Courses Covered

The first quarter of the 2025 academic year began on Friday, January 3, 2025, and concluded on Saturday, March 29, 2025. During this period, the school successfully completed three key courses aimed at deepening students' understanding of important biblical topics:

  • World Religions

  • Homiletics II

  • Wisdom Literature

Student Report

The first quarter of the 2025 academic year began on a strong and positive note, with students displaying great dedication and enthusiasm toward their studies. Attendance was very encouraging throughout January and February.

However, as the quarter progressed, there was a noticeable decline in attendance during March due to various factors, including work schedules and commitments to assignments from their congregations. While this decline was concerning, efforts were made to reach out to the affected students and encourage their return.

On average, class attendance stood at eight (8) students per session, reflecting a steady level of commitment despite the slight drop in numbers toward the end of the quarter. Beyond attendance, students demonstrated a high level of engagement through their contributions to discussions, their eagerness to ask insightful questions, and their overall participation in classroom activities.

House-to-House Evangelism Update

During the first quarter, there was no major evangelism event. However, individual students were sent to various community churches, including Gomoa Asebu-Pomadze, Awutu Breku Twiime, Santor Central, and North Atomic. After worship services, they joined these congregations in their house-to-house evangelism efforts, providing opportunities for both edification and outreach.

Unlike previous quarters, where flexibility was allowed, this time, students followed a structured rotation schedule, ensuring that all assigned communities received student support for worship and evangelism.

To enhance communication and accountability, students were required to report to me through our WhatsApp platform. This system allows them to submit reports on their visits, share testimonies, and provide feedback on their evangelistic encounters on the same day, rather than waiting until class time. This method has significantly improved coordination, enabling me to monitor progress and provide timely guidance as needed.

We thank God, three baptisms were recorded in the first quarter, one at Nmai Djorn-Accra East, one at Awutu Breku Twiime, and one at Santor Central. As we move forward, we continue to pray for greater impact, trusting that our efforts will bring more souls to Christ.

Church Planting Program for 2025

The church planting program is set to take place this year as part of our mission to expand the gospel and establish new congregations. This initiative is crucial in fulfilling the Great Commission, ensuring that more communities have access to sound biblical teaching and a place of worship.

Preparations for planting a new church are currently underway, including a final feasibility study to determine the most suitable locations. One key challenge is not just finding a student willing to lead but ensuring that the selected individual is truly committed to nurturing and growing the new congregation.

Final decisions regarding both the feasibility study and the selection of preachers or students will be concluded in the second quarter of the year. I have full confidence in God that, just as He has guided us in previous years, He will lead us through this year’s church planting efforts as well.

Major Event in the First Quarter

The major event of the quarter was the Bear Valley 7th Graduation Ceremony, held at Serperma Church of Christ. The students of Accra East Campus and I, participated in the ceremony.

Stephen Ashcraft’s Presentation – (International Coordinator & Gospel Minister)

Stephen Ashcraft (Min.), the International Coordinator, addressed the congregation. To our surprise, he expressed his gratitude in Akan, (Twi) Ghana’s widely spoken language, saying: "Meda ase, ɛyɛ paa," which means, "Thank you, it is very good."

This heartfelt gesture conveyed his appreciation for the invitation and his joy in being with us. The entire auditorium was filled with joy and amazement, as no one expected a white brother to speak Twi so fluently. This created a wonderful and uplifting atmosphere.

The Focus of His Presentation

Ashcraft admonished the students not to see their graduation merely as an academic achievement but as a divine calling.

He reminded them:

“You are here because we are sending you into the world to preach Christ, who was crucified. The world is perishing, and you are charged with taking this treasure—the gospel—to them. As Christ sacrificed Himself, you must also sacrifice yourselves so that others may come to Him. Your mission is to seek the lost and teach others to follow Christ. Beyond graduation, you have been commissioned to bring souls to Christ. You are charged to do the work of an evangelist. If you do this faithfully, you will receive the crown of life.” It was an inspiring message, and indeed, we were grateful.

Students’ Representatives Express Gratitude

After receiving their certificates and awards, the student representatives from the Diploma, Bachelor's, and Master’s degree programs expressed their gratitude to God and encouraged themselves and their fellow graduates to remain steadfast in their calling.

Bro. Ahenkora – Representative of the Diploma Students:

Brother Ahenkora stated that they consider it a great privilege to have been trained to carry the message of Christ to the world. They deeply appreciate the E-library provided by the school, which has greatly contributed to their academic and spiritual growth.

Bro. Emmanuel Ahorklo – Bachelor’s Degree Graduate:

He praised God for His divine protection and guidance throughout their studies. He also expressed gratitude to the faculty and management for their dedication and support.

He urged Ghanaian congregations to support the school, ensuring that future students can benefit from the training provided.

Bro. Fred Adams – Master’s Degree Graduate:

He expressed gratitude to God, the faculty, and the coordinator, Kojo Acquah-Beenyi (Min), and all the lecturers for their support. He emphasized that their academic pursuit was not just about intellectual growth but also spiritual development.

As they move forward, he pleaded for continued dedication to serving with integrity, purpose, and devotion to God’s work.

Guest Speaker: John Franklin Tamakloe (Min.)

Topic: How to Be a Good Minister

Evg. John Franklin Tamakloe, one of Ghana’s outstanding preachers, delivered his address based on 1 Timothy 4:16. He encouraged and inspired the students through his message: "You are to be a mirror image of Bear Valley." He emphasized the importance of understanding what Bear Valley Bible Institute stands for, as they are not only representatives of the institution but also bear a great responsibility in their ministry.

Key Points from His Address

·         Take heed of yourselves (1 Timothy 4:16): Live a life that reflects Christ and sets you apart.

·         Stay focused: Avoid distractions and remain fully committed to your ministry.

·         Set clear boundaries: Protect your faith and integrity through spiritual discipline.

·         Understand doctrine Hold to sound doctrine and distinguish truth from personal opinion.

·         Continue growing: Keep learning, studying and improving to lead others to salvation. (Philippians 4:9):

Conclusion

The first quarter of 2025 saw significant progress in both academics and evangelism. As we enter the second quarter, we remain dedicated to academic excellence, evangelistic outreach, and equipping students for ministry. We trust that the seeds sown will bear lasting fruit for the glory of God.

Graduations and Baptisms in Ashtown, Ghana

BEAR VALLEY BIBLE INSTITUTE, ASH TOWN, KASOA

FIRST QUARTER, 2025 REPORT

INTRODUCTION

We give thanks to God for His steadfast love and guidance throughout the first quarter of 2025. This quarterly update showcases the key achievements and developments at Bear Valley Bible Institute, Ash town, from January to March 2025.

COURSES

During this quarter, we successfully delivered three courses. Specifically:

- Emmanuel Larbi led the sessions on Christian Leadership and Christian Ethics.

- Samuel Papa Woode instructed the Greek 2 course.

A total of 18 students participated in these courses, enriching their knowledge and skills.

CHURCH PLANTING

On January 19, 2025, our Director visited the church of Christ, located on Nyanyano Road, Kasoa. The purpose of the visit was to meet with the church leadership and discuss potential collaboration on planting a new church in Kojo Oku, Kasoa.

Initially, we had considered Kojo - Oku as a primary location for our church plant in 2023. However, after careful consideration, we identified potential future challenges. Interestingly, the Nyanyano Road church had also been exploring the possibility of planting a church in the same area.

The meeting with the leadership aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration and determine the best way forward. We are currently awaiting their response to proceed.

ACCRA GRADUATION CEREMONY

On February 15, 2025, our school community gathered at Sarpeiman, Accra, to celebrate the graduation ceremony of three students from the Papaase Campus, which has since merged with our Ash town school. These dedicated students successfully completed their Diploma of Biblical Studies from Bear Valley.

We rejoice with these graduates and pray that God will continue to guide and empower them as they embark on their journey as preachers. In the coming months, we plan to visit these graduates to see firsthand the impactful work they are doing in their respective congregations.

TAMALE GRADUATION CEREMONY

On February 17, 2025, our Director, accompanied by Assistant Coordinators Bro. Ebenezer Amoasi and John Acquah Andoh, traveled to Tamale to attend a graduation ceremony. This trip provided a valuable opportunity for the Director to connect with dedicated preachers who have devoted their lives to serving God.

The Director also gained insight into the graduation hosting traditions in Tamale, which proved to be a enriching experience. We express our gratitude to God for the successful graduation event and for our safe return.

UPDATE ON CHURCH OF CHRIST, ADOM ESTATE, KASOA

On March 2, 2025, our Director visited the church of Christ at Adom Estate, Kasoa, a congregation that our school and Ash town Congregation jointly planted. This visit was a follow-up on the church’s progress, as a previous visit had been missed last quarter.

During the visit, Bro. Kingsley, an alumnus and the church’s substantive preacher, led a Bible class on the topic of Evangelism. We were encouraged to see the congregation’s progress, including the installation of metal windows and electricity at their place of worship. These improvements have enabled them to hold evening prayers and Bible studies.

We continue to pray for God’s guidance and blessings upon this congregation, that they may grow spiritually and numerically.

BAPTISMS

We rejoice and give thanks to God for the remarkable fruit of our students’ evangelistic efforts this quarter! We celebrate the fifteen(15) baptisms that have taken place as a direct result of their dedication to sharing the Gospel. Their hard work and commitment have borne witness to the power of God’s word, and we welcome these new brothers and sisters into the kingdom of God.

CONCLUSION

We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Bear Valley Leadership and the Brotherhood for their steadfast guidance and generous financial support throughout the quarter. Your selfless contributions have been a tremendous blessing to us. May God abundantly bless and reward you for your kindness and sacrifices.

BVBI in Accra, Ghana, Celebrates a Graduation and a Fruitful Month

Overview

February was a productive month for the Southern Institute of Biblical Studies, marked by five significant long courses, a campaign to attract new students, radio preaching, visitation, and a Graduation and Matriculation ceremony. These initiatives are aimed at enhancing our academic offerings and expanding our student body.

Classroom Activities

Throughout January, our class sessions focused on several key areas:

Church History: Students engaged in a comprehensive review of the early church, exploring significant events and figures that shaped Christianity.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT): This course covered the integration of technology in modern ministry. Students learned about digital tools for outreach and engagement.

Pastoral Epistles: A deep dive into the letters of Paul to Timothy and Titus, focusing on leadership, church organization, and pastoral care.

Major Prophets: The class studied the messages and themes of major prophets, including Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel, emphasizing their relevance in contemporary society.

Greek: The students started their study of Koine Greek, focusing on the learning and writing of the alphabets.

Every afternoon is a session where students are given fifteen (15) minutes and are assessed on their preaching skills.

Radio Program

Our radio program continues to be a vital outreach tool for BVBI, allowing us to connect with the community and share the Gospel.

Weekly Broadcasts: our topic for the month is still on the church of the Bible, specifically on the New Testament Worship. The church of the Bible has been selected again for the month of February because listeners are asking many questions.

Audience Engagement: We saw an increase in listener interactions, with many reaching out via phone calls and social media, and to share how the program has impacted their lives.

Campaign for New Students

As most of the students are through with their course, February was dedicated to campaigning for new students:

Visitation letters: Letters have been sent to churches, requesting their approval to campaign in their churches.

Scholarship Opportunities: We promoted scholarship programs available for incoming students, incentivizing applications and providing financial support for those in need.

The campaign was fruitful and three students have been admitted.

Planned Visitation and church strengthening

Looking ahead, we have several planned visitation initiatives to strengthen our community ties and outreach efforts:

Scheduled Visits: we have visited the Fotobi congregation in the Eastern Region of Ghana on the 9th February. Since we gave a prior notice, the brethren welcomed us warmly and gave us a topic on stewardship to discuss with them

We also visited the Medie Ketewaa congregation on the 16th February 2025. The church was happy to welcome us and gave us a topic on church growth to boost attendance and their giving.

Our presence motivated them and as a result, increasing church attendance. This is being done to strengthen and edify the local congregations established by the school to grow and assist in evangelism.

Graduation

15th February marks the 7th Graduation and 8th Matriculation ceremony of the school. Invitations were extended to the churches requesting their presence to celebrate the brethren who have completed their courses

Diploma: Eight (8) men who have completed the disciplines leading to obtaining a diploma in Biblical studies were honored with certificates

Bachelor’s degree: Seven (7) men who, through hard work and continuous effort, were certified with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical studies

Evangelistic, promising, well-behaved, best in Academics, and overall Best student.

Matriculation: On that same day, men who had the desire to pursue all the courses in the school were officially inaugurated as students.

Students in Tamale, Ghana value their education

BEAR VALLEY INSTITUTE OF BIBLICAL STUDIES, TAMALE - GHANA

DECEMBER 2024 OPERATING REPORT

The year 2024 ended gracefully by the special grace and mercies of God. We must admit God has been faithful to us in Tamale and by extension the Bear Valley Family. We must all therefore give glory to God for all the privileges granted us. We agree with the Psalmist in Psalm 107: “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good and His steadfast love endures forever!” The Lord indeed has been good to us all. May His name be praised in all the nations!

KPALSI SOUTH CHURCH OF CHRIST

In the month of December 2024, the congregation in Kpalsi South had been joyful to receive one successful baptism. A dagomba Muslim brother who happens to be a casual plumber, the school heeded to the gospel of Christ and was converted successfully to the glory of God. We praise the Lord for this great blessing.

BENEVOLENCE: In the efforts of the local church in Kpalsi South in evangelizing and strengthening members internally, a benevolent activity was carried out successfully in the month of December. It was a great time, seeing smiles on the faces of needy people within and across our neighborhood. We pray the Lord touch the unsaved who were and have been benefiting from these physical blessings from the Lord to accept the gospel of Christ Jesus with time. It is our desire to do our best to make an impact in the city of Tamale and its neighborhood with the message of Christ. Oh God, help us.

SCHOOL GARDEN

We have started getting some vegetables from our irrigation work done in the school garden. The results are very positive and if we in the future could make a good investment on our irrigation efforts, we have a good support coming from there for the feeding of our students.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The last course to end the two year run of the 2023/2024 batch of students was taught in the month of December, 2024. This course was taught by Brother Shadrack Oppong. Brother Oppong is one the sound and strong preachers from the southern part of Ghana. He taught Bible Geography.

BIBLE CAMP

Brother James in the month of December 2024 participated in a Bible camp in Bazua in the Upper East Region. He was the main speaker of the event. The theme of the programs was centered on “Miracles in the Past, in the First Century Church, and in our Time. The program was well attended across the region. Brother James took advantage to campaign for students for the school.

We thank you Jesus for your protection for the year 2024.

Thank you,

Bear Valley Tamale
